The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 2383
Tawus, may Allah have mercy on him, said: "Once I asked Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, about the people's belief that the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: 'Even if you are not in a state of impurity, bathe on Friday, wash your head and apply perfume.' Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, said: 'I have no knowledge of the perfume, but the matter of bathing is correct.'"

طاؤس رحمہ اللہ کہتے ہیں کہ ایک مرتبہ میں نے سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے پوچھا کہ لوگ یہ خیال کرتے ہیں کہ نبی ﷺ نے ارشاد فرمایا ہے: ”تم اگرچہ حالت جنابت میں نہ ہو پھر بھی جمعہ کے دن غسل کیا کرو، اور اپنا سر دھویا کرو، اور خوشبو لگایا کرو“؟ سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے فرمایا کہ خوشبو کا تو مجھے علم نہیں ہے البتہ غسل کی بات صحیح ہے۔
Taos rehmatullah kehte hain ki ek martaba main ne Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se poocha ki log ye khayaal karte hain ki Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne irshad farmaya hai: ''Tum agarche haalat janabat mein na ho phir bhi jumma ke din ghusl kiya karo, aur apna sar dhoya karo, aur khushboo lagaya karo''? Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a ne farmaya ki khushboo ka to mujhe ilm nahin hai albatta ghusl ki baat sahih hai.
حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ ، حَدَّثَنِي الزُّهْرِيُّ ، عَنْ طَاوُسٍ الْيَمَانِيِّ ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ يَزْعُمُونَ أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ:" اغْتَسِلُوا يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ، وَاغْسِلُوا رُءُوسَكُمْ، وَإِنْ لَمْ تَكُونُوا جُنُبًا، وَمَسُّوا مِنَ الطِّيبِ" , قَالَ: فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ: أَمَّا الطِّيبُ، فَلَا أَدْرِي، وَأَمَّا الْغُسْلُ، فَنَعَمْ.
