Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 2392
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) once set out on a journey and appointed Sayyiduna Abu Rahm Kulthum ibn Hisn (may Allah be pleased with him) as his deputy in Medina. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) left on the 10th of Ramadan and was fasting, as were his Companions (may Allah be pleased with them). When they reached a place called Kadid - a watering place between 'Usfan and Amj - the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) broke his fast. Then they continued their journey until they reached Marr az-Zahran and camped there. At that time, there were ten thousand Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ نبی ﷺ ایک مرتبہ سفر پر روانہ ہوئے، اور مدینہ منورہ میں اپنا نائب سیدنا ابورہم کلثوم بن حصین رضی اللہ عنہ کو بنا دیا، آپ ﷺ دس رمضان کو نکلے تھے، اس لئے خود بھی روزے سے تھے اور صحابہ کرام رضی اللہ عنہم بھی روزے سے تھے، جب کدید نامی جگہ پر - جو عسفان اور امج کے درمیان پانی کی ایک جگہ ہے - پہنچے تو نبی ﷺ نے روزہ ختم کر دیا، پھر روانہ ہو گئے یہاں تک کہ مر الظہران پر پہنچ کر پڑاؤ کیا، اس وقت نبی ﷺ کے ساتھ دس ہزار صحابہ رضی اللہ عنہم تھے۔

حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ ، قَالَ: فَحَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ الزُّهْرِيُّ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ:" ثُمَّ مَضَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِسَفَرِهِ , وَاسْتَخْلَفَ عَلَى الْمَدِينَةِ أَبَا رُهْمٍ كُلْثُومَ بْنَ حُصَيْنِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ خَلَفٍ الْغِفَارِيَّ، وَخَرَجَ لِعَشْرٍ مَضَيْنَ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ، فَصَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , وَصَامَ النَّاسُ مَعَهُ، حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَ بِالْكَدِيدِ مَاءٍ بَيْنَ عُسْفَانَ وَأَمْجٍ أَفْطَرَ، ثُمَّ مَضَى حَتَّى نَزَلَ بِمَرِّ الظَّهْرَانِ فِي عَشَرَةِ آلَافٍ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ".
