The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 2410
Abu Dhabiyan (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Once we asked Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), "What is the meaning of the verse: 'Allah has not made for any man two hearts within his breast' (Al-Ahzab: 4)?" He replied, "Once, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stood up to lead the prayer. During the prayer, a thought occurred to him (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The hypocrites, who were praying behind him, said, 'Don't you see that he has two hearts, one with you and one with them?' So, Allah revealed this verse."

ابوظبیان رحمہ اللہ کہتے ہیں کہ ایک مرتبہ ہم نے سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے پوچھا کہ «﴿مَا جَعَلَ اللّٰهُ لِرَجُلٍ مِنْ قَلْبَيْنِ فِي جَوْفِهِ﴾ [الأحزاب: 4] » ”اللہ نے کسی انسان کے سینے میں دو دل نہیں بنائے“، اس ارشاد باری تعالیٰ کا کیا مطلب ہے؟ انہوں نے فرمایا کہ ایک مرتبہ نبی ﷺ نماز پڑھانے کے لئے کھڑے ہوئے، دوران نماز آپ ﷺ کو کوئی خیال آیا، تو وہ منافق جو نبی ﷺ کے ساتھ نماز پڑھتے تھے، کہنے لگے: کیا تم دیکھتے نہیں کہ ان کے دو دل ہیں، ایک دل تمہارے ساتھ اور ایک دل ان کے ساتھ، اس پر اللہ تعالیٰ نے یہ آیت نازل فرمائی۔
Abu Dahbiyan rehmatullah alaih kehte hain ke ek martaba hum ne Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se pucha ke "Ma ja'ala Allahu li rajulin min qalbayni fi jawfihi" [Al-Ahzab: 4] "Allah ne kisi insan ke seene mein do dil nahin banaye", is irshad bari ta'ala ka kya matlab hai? Unhon ne farmaya ke ek martaba Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) namaz padhane ke liye khade huye, dauran namaz aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko koi khayal aaya, to wo munafiq jo Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke sath namaz padhte the, kehne lage: kya tum dekhte nahin ke inke do dil hain, ek dil tumhare sath aur ek dil inke sath, is par Allah ta'ala ne ye ayat nazil farmai.
(حديث موقوف) حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ ، عَنْ قَابُوسَ بْنِ أَبِي ظَبْيَانَ ، أَنَّ أَبَاهُ حَدَّثَهُ، قَالَ: قُلْنَا لِابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ : أَرَأَيْتَ قَوْلَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ مَا جَعَلَ اللَّهُ لِرَجُلٍ مِنْ قَلْبَيْنِ فِي جَوْفِهِ سورة الأحزاب آية 4 مَا عَنَى بِذَلِكَ؟ قَالَ:" قَامَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمًا يُصَلِّي، قَالَ: فَخَطَرَ خَطْرَةً، فَقَالَ الْمُنَافِقُونَ الَّذِينَ يُصَلُّونَ مَعَهُ: أَلَا تَرَوْنَ لَهُ قَلْبَيْنِ؟ قَالَ: قَلْباًًٌ مَعَكُمْ، وَقَلَبٌ مَعَهُمْ؟ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: مَا جَعَلَ اللَّهُ لِرَجُلٍ مِنْ قَلْبَيْنِ فِي جَوْفِهِ سورة الأحزاب آية 4".
