The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 2412
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with both of them) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) visited one of his daughters (meaning his granddaughter, the daughter of his daughter). She was in the throes of death. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) took her and placed her in his lap. In that state, her soul departed, and tears flowed from the eyes of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Sayyida Umm Ayman (may Allah be pleased with her) also began to weep. Someone said to her: “Are you weeping in the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)?” She replied: “When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) is weeping, why should I not weep?” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “I am not weeping. This is mercy. When the soul of a believer departs from his sides, he is praising Allah.”

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ نبی ﷺ اپنی کسی بیٹی (کی بیٹی یعنی نواسی) کے پاس تشریف لائے، اس وقت وہ نزع کے عالم میں تھی، نبی ﷺ نے اسے پکڑ کر اپنی گود میں رکھ لیا، اسی حال میں اس کی روح قبض ہو گئی، اور نبی ﷺ کی آنکھوں سے آنسو جاری ہو گئے، سیدہ ام ایمن رضی اللہ عنہا بھی رونے لگیں، کسی نے ان سے کہا: کیا تم نبی ﷺ کی موجودگی میں رو رہی ہو؟ انہوں نے کہا کہ جب نبی ﷺ بھی رو رہے ہیں تو میں کیوں نہ روؤں؟ نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”میں رو نہیں رہا، یہ تو رحمت ہے، مومن کی روح جب اس کے دونوں پہلوؤں سے نکلتی ہے تو وہ اللہ کی تعریف کر رہا ہوتا ہے۔“
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki ek martaba Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) apni kisi beti (ki beti yani nawasi) ke paas tashreef laaye, us waqt woh naza ke aalam mein thi, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne use pakar kar apni god mein rakh liya, isi haal mein uski rooh qabz ho gayi, aur Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki aankhon se aansu jari ho gaye, Sayyida Umm Ayman ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) bhi rone lagi, kisi ne unse kaha: kya tum Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki mojoodgi mein ro rahi ho? Unhon ne kaha ki jab Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) bhi ro rahe hain to main kyun na roon? Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: "Main ro nahin raha, yeh to rehmat hai, momin ki rooh jab uske donon pehluon se nikalti hai to woh Allah ki tareef kar raha hota hai."
(حديث قدسي) حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ: جَاءَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى بَعْضِ بَنَاتِهِ وَهِيَ فِي السَّوْقِ، فَأَخَذَهَا وَوَضَعَهَا فِي حِجْرِهِ حَتَّى قُبِضَتْ، فَدَمَعَتْ عَيْنَاهُ، فَبَكَتْ أُمُّ أَيْمَن، فَقِيلَ لَهَا: أَتَبْكِينَ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ؟ فَقَالَتْ: أَلَا أَبْكِي وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَبْكِي؟ قَالَ:" إِنِّي لَمْ أَبْكِ، وَهَذِهِ رَحْمَةٌ، إِنَّ الْمُؤْمِنَ تَخْرُجُ نَفْسُهُ مِنْ بَيْنِ جَنْبَيْهِ وَهُوَ يَحْمَدُ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ".
