ومن مسند بني هاشم
The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 2447
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidina Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Hearing something is not like seeing something. That is why, when Allah Almighty told Prophet Musa (peace be upon him) that his people had started worshipping the calf, he did not throw down the tablets. But when he saw them doing so with his own eyes, he threw down the tablets of the Torah and they broke."

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے ارشاد فرمایا: ”سنی سنائی بات دیکھی ہوئی بات کی طرح نہیں ہوتی، یہی وجہ ہے کہ اللہ تعالیٰ نے جب حضرت موسیٰ علیہ السلام کو بتایا کہ ان کی قوم نے بچھڑے کی پوجا شروع کر دی تو انہوں نے تختیاں نہیں پھینکیں، لیکن جب انہوں نے اپنی قوم کو اپنی آنکھوں سے اس طرح کرتے ہوئے دیکھ لیا تو انہوں نے تورات کی تختیاں پھینک دیں اور وہ ٹوٹ گئیں۔“
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne irshad farmaya: ”Suni sunaai baat dekhi hui baat ki tarah nahi hoti, yahi wajah hai ki Allah Ta'ala ne jab Hazrat Musa Alaihissalam ko bataya ki un ki qaum ne bachhde ki puja shuru kar di to unhon ne takhtiyan nahi phenkin, lekin jab unhon ne apni qaum ko apni aankhon se is tarah karte hue dekh liya to unhon ne Taurat ki takhtiyan phenk din aur wo toot gayin.“
حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجُ بْنُ النُّعْمَانِ ، حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" لَيْسَ الْخَبَرُ كَالْمُعَايَنَةِ، إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ أَخْبَرَ مُوسَى بِمَا صَنَعَ قَوْمُهُ فِي الْعِجْلِ، فَلَمْ يُلْقِ الْأَلْوَاحَ، فَلَمَّا عَايَنَ مَا صَنَعُوا، أَلْقَى الْأَلْوَاحَ فَانْكَسَرَتْ".
