The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 2452
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the prohibition of alcohol was revealed, the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) asked: "O Messenger of Allah! What about those brothers of ours who have already passed away and used to drink it before its prohibition?" Upon this, the following verse was revealed: "(There is) no blame on those who have believed and done righteous deeds for what they used to eat (or drink)..." [Al-Ma'idah: 93].

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ جب حرمت شراب کا حکم نازل ہوا تو صحابہ کرام رضی اللہ عنہم نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! ہمارے ان بھائیوں کا کیا ہوگا جن کا پہلے انتقال ہو گیا اور وہ اس کی حرمت سے پہلے اسے پیتے تھے؟ اس پر یہ آیت نازل ہوئی: «﴿لَيْسَ عَلَى الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ جُنَاحٌ فِيمَا طَعِمُوا﴾ [المائدة: 93] » ”ان لوگوں پر جو ایمان لائے اور نیک اعمال کرتے رہے، کوئی حرج نہیں جو انہوں نے پہلے کھا لیا (یا پی لیا)۔“
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki jab hurmat sharaab ka hukm nazil hua to Sahaba kiram (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne arz kiya Ya Rasul Allah hamare in bhaiyon ka kya hoga jin ka pehle intiqal ho gaya aur wo is ki hurmat se pehle ise peete the Is par ye ayat nazil hui "Laisa alal lazeena aamanoo wa 'amilus salihati junahun feema ta'amoo [Al-Ma'idah: 93]" "In logon par jo imaan laaye aur nek amal karte rahe koi harj nahi jo unhon ne pehle kha liya (ya pee liya)"
حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ ، عَنِ سِمَاكٍ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ:" لَمَّا حُرِّمَتْ الْخَمْرُ، قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، أَصْحَابُنَا الَّذِينَ مَاتُوا وَهُمْ يَشْرَبُونَهَا؟ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: لَيْسَ عَلَى الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ جُنَاحٌ فِيمَا طَعِمُوا سورة المائدة آية 93".
