Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 24961
It is narrated on the authority of Ayesha (may Allah be pleased with her) that in the beginning, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would not offer any part of the night prayer while sitting. But when the Prophet's (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) blessed body became heavy, he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would offer as much prayer sitting as Allah willed, and when thirty or forty verses of this Surah remained, he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would stand up, then recite them and go into prostration.

حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے مروی ہے کہ پہلے تو نبی ﷺ رات کی نماز کا کچھ حصہ بھی بیٹھ کر نہ پڑھتے تھے لیکن نبی ﷺ کا بدن مبارک جب بھاری ہوگیا تو نبی ﷺ بیٹھ کر ہی جتنی اللہ کو منظور ہوتی نماز پڑھ لیتے تھے اور جب اس سورت کی تیس یا چالیس آیات رہ جاتیں تو کھڑے ہوجاتے، پھر ان کی تلاوت کرکے سجدے میں جاتے تھے۔
Hazrat Ayesha Raziallahu Anha se marvi hai keh pehle to Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) raat ki namaz ka kuch hissa bhi baith kar na parhte thy lakin Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ka badan mubarak jab bhari hogaya to Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) baith kar hi jitni Allah ko manzor hoti namaz parh lete thy aur jab is surat ki tees ya chalis ayat reh jati to kharay hojate, phir in ki tilawat karke sajde mein jate thy.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ: كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " لَا يَقْرَأُ فِي شَيْءٍ مِنْ صَلَاةِ اللَّيْلِ جَالِسًا حَتَّى دَخَلَ فِي السِّنِّ، وَكَانَ إِذَا بَقِيَتْ عَلَيْهِ ثَلَاثُونَ آيَةً أَوْ أَرْبَعُونَ، قَامَ فَقَرَأَهَا، ثُمَّ سَجَدَ" .
