Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 25161
It is narrated on the authority of Aisha Radi Allahu Anha that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to observe the moon of Shaban with such care that he did not observe the moon of any other month with such care, and he would fast upon seeing the moon. And if the sky was cloudy, he would complete the count of thirty days and then fast.

حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے مروی ہے کہ نبی ﷺ شعبان کے چاند کا اتنے اہتمام کے ساتھ خیال رکھتے تھے کہ کسی دوسرے مہینے کا اتنے اہتمام کے ساتھ خیال نہیں رکھتے تھے اور چاند دیکھ کر روزہ رکھ لیتے تھے اور اگر آسمان ابر آلود ہوتا تو تیس دن کی گنتی پوری کر کے پھر روزہ رکھتے تھے۔

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَيْسٍ ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَائِشَةَ ، تَقُولُ:" كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَتَحَفَّظُ مِنْ هِلَالِ شَعْبَانَ مَا لَا يَتَحَفَّظُ مِنْ غَيْرِهِ، ثُمَّ يَصُومُ لِرُؤْيَةِ رَمَضَانَ، فَإِنْ غُمَّ عَلَيْهِ، عَدَّ ثَلَاثِينَ يَوْمًا، ثُمَّ صَامَ" .
