Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 25162
Hazrat Nu'man bin Bashir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that once Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) sent a letter with me to Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her). I reached her and handed over the letter. She said, "Son! Should I not narrate to you a Hadith that I heard from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)?" I said, "Why not?" She said, "Once, I and Hafsa (may Allah be pleased with her) were in the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). He said, 'I wish we had a man who would talk to us.' Hafsa (may Allah be pleased with her) said, 'Shall I send someone to call Umar (may Allah be pleased with him)?' The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) remained silent for a while, then said, 'No.' Then I suggested calling Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), but the same thing happened. Then he called a man and whispered something to him. After a while, Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) came. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) turned completely towards him. I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying, 'O Uthman! Allah will soon clothe you with a shirt. If the hypocrites want to take it off from you, then do not take it off until you meet me.' He repeated this sentence three times." Nu'man bin Bashir (may Allah be pleased with him) says, "I said to her, 'O Mother of the Believers! Why didn't you mention this before?' She said, 'By Allah, I had forgotten about it. I didn't remember it.'"

حضرت نعمان بن بشیر رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ ایک مرتبہ حضرت معاویہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے خط لکھ کر میرے ہاتھ حضرت عائشہ کے پاس بھیجا، میں نے ان کے پاس پہنچ کر وہ خط ان کے حوالے کیا تو وہ کہنے لگیں، بیٹا! کیا میں تمہیں ایک حدیث نہ سناؤں جو میں نے نبی ﷺ سے سنی ہے؟ میں نے عرض کیا کیوں نہیں، انہوں نے فرمایا ایک مرتبہ میں اور حفصہ نبی ﷺ کی خدمت میں حاضر تھے، نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا کاش! ہمارے پاس کوئی آدمی ہوتا جو ہم سے باتیں کرتا، حضرت حفصہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ میں کسی کو بھیج کر حضرت عمر رضی اللہ عنہ کو بلا لوں؟ نبی ﷺ پہلے تو خاموش رہے، پھر فرمایا نہیں، میں نے حضرت ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ کو بلانے کے لئے کہا، تب بھی یہی ہوا، پھر ایک آدمی کو بلا کر کچھ دیر اس سے سرگوشی کی، تھوڑی ہی دیر میں حضرت عثمان رضی اللہ عنہ آگئے، نبی ﷺ مکمل طور پر ان کی جانب متوجہ ہوگئے، میں نے نبی ﷺ کو یہ فرماتے ہوئے سنا، عثمان! عنقریب اللہ تعالیٰ تمہیں ایک قمیص پہنائے گا، اگر منافقین اسے اتارنا چاہیں تو تم اسے نہ اتارنا یہاں تک کہ مجھ سے آملو، تین مرتبہ یہ جملہ دہرایا، حضرت نعمان رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے ان سے کہا: اے ام المومنین! اب تک یہ بات آپ نے کیوں ذکر نہیں فرمائی؟ انہوں نے فرمایا واللہ میں یہ بات بھول گئی تھی، مجھے یاد ہی نہیں رہی تھی۔
Hazrat Noman bin Bashir (رضي الله تعالى عنه) kehte hain ki ek martaba Hazrat Muawiya (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne khat likh kar mere hath Hazrat Ayesha ke paas bheja, maine un ke paas pahunch kar woh khat un ke hawale kiya to woh kehne lagi, Beta! kya main tumhen ek hadees na sunaun jo maine Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) se suni hai? Maine arz kiya kyun nahi, unhon ne farmaya ek martaba main aur Hafsa Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki khidmat mein hazir the, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya kash! humare paas koi aadmi hota jo hum se baaten karta, Hazrat Hafsa ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) ne kaha ki main kisi ko bhej kar Hazrat Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ko bula lun? Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) pehle to khamosh rahe, phir farmaya nahi, maine Hazrat Abubakar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ko bulane ke liye kaha, tab bhi yahi hua, phir ek aadmi ko bula kar kuch der us se sargosi ki, thodi hi der mein Hazrat Usman (رضي الله تعالى عنه) agaye, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) mukammal tor par un ki jaanib mutawajjeh hogaye, maine Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko ye farmate huye suna, Usman! anqareeb Allah Ta'ala tumhen ek qamees pehnaye ga, agar munafiqeen ise utarna chahen to tum ise na utarna yahan tak ki mujh se aamlo, teen martaba ye jumla dohraya, Hazrat Noman (رضي الله تعالى عنه) kehte hain ki maine un se kaha: aye Ummul Momineen! ab tak ye baat aap ne kyun zikar nahi farmai? Unhon ne farmaya Wallahi main ye baat bhul gayi thi, mujhe yaad hi nahi rahi thi.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ ، عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ يَعْنِي ابْنَ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَيْسٍ ، أَنَّ النُّعْمَانَ بْنَ بَشِيرٍ حَدَّثَهُ، قَالَ: كَتَبَ مَعِي مُعَاوِيَةُ إِلَى عَائِشَةَ، قَالَ: فَقَدِمْتُ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ ، فَدَفَعْتُ إِلَيْهَا كِتَابَ مُعَاوِيَةَ، فَقَالَتْ: يَا بُنَيَّ، أَلَا أُحَدِّثُكَ بِشَيْءٍ سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ؟ قُلْتُ: بَلَى، قَالَتْ: فَإِنِّي كُنْتُ أَنَا وَحَفْصَةُ يَوْمًا مِنْ ذَاكَ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ:" لَوْ كَانَ عِنْدَنَا رَجُلٌ يُحَدِّثُنَا". فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، أَلَا أَبْعَثُ لَكَ إِلَى أَبِي بَكْرٍ؟ فَسَكَتَ، ثُمَّ قَالَ:" لَوْ كَانَ عِنْدَنَا رَجُلٌ يُحَدِّثُنَا". فَقَالَتْ حَفْصَةُ أَلَا أُرْسِلُ لَكَ إِلَى عُمَرَ؟ فَسَكَتَ، ثُمَّ قَالَ:" لَا" ثُمَّ دَعَا رَجُلًا فَسَارَّهُ بِشَيْءٍ، فَمَا كَانَ إِلَّا أَنْ أَقْبَلَ عُثْمَانُ، فَأَقْبَلَ عَلَيْهِ بِوَجْهِهِ وَحَدِيثِهِ، فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ لَهُ:" يَا عُثْمَانُ، إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَعَلَّهُ أَنْ يُقَمِّصَكَ قَمِيصًا، فَإِنْ أَرَادُوكَ عَلَى خَلْعِهِ فَلَا تَخْلَعْهُ" ثَلَاثَ مِرَارٍ ، قَالَ: فَقُلْتُ: يَا أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ فَأَيْنَ كُنْتِ عَنْ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ؟ فَقَالَتْ: يَا بُنَيَّ، وَاللَّهِ لَقَدْ أُنْسِيتُهُ حَتَّى مَا ظَنَنْتُ أَنِّي سَمِعْتُهُ.
