The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 2544
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that one day, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) ascended Mount Safa and, following the custom of the time, called out to the people, “Ya Sabahah!”, to gather them. When the people of Quraysh had assembled, he asked them, “Tell me, if I were to inform you that the enemy is going to attack you in the morning or evening, would you believe me?” They all replied, “Why not?”. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “Then I warn you of a severe punishment (from Allah). " Abu Lahab said, "Have you gathered us only for this? May you perish!" Thereupon Surah Lahab was revealed.

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ ایک دن نبی ﷺ نے صفا پہاڑی پر چڑھ کر اس وقت کے رواج کے مطابق لوگوں کو جمع کرنے کے لئے «يا صباحاه» کہہ کر آواز لگائی، جب قریش کے لوگ جمع ہو گئے تو انہوں نے پوچھا کہ کیا بات ہے؟ نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”یہ بتاؤ، اگر میں تمہیں خبر دوں کہ دشمن تم پر صبح یا شام میں کسی وقت حملہ کرنے والا ہے تو کیا تم میری تصدیق کرو گے؟“ سب نے کہا: کیوں نہیں؟ نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”پھر میں تمہیں ایک سخت عذاب آنے سے پہلے ڈراتا ہوں“، ابولہب کہنے لگا کہ کیا تم نے ہمیں اسی لئے جمع کیا تھا، تم ہلاک ہو (العیاذ باللہ)، اس پر سورہ لہب نازل ہوئی۔
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki ek din Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne Safa pahari par chadh kar us waqt ke riwaj ke mutabiq logon ko jama karne ke liye "Ya Sabahah" keh kar awaz lagai, jab Quresh ke log jama ho gaye to unhon ne poocha ki kya baat hai? Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: "Yeh batao, agar main tumhen khabar doon ki dushman tum par subah ya sham mein kisi waqt hamla karne wala hai to kya tum meri tasdeeq karoge?" Sab ne kaha: kyon nahin? Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: "Phir main tumhen ek sakht azab aane se pehle darata hun", Abu Lahab kehne laga ki kya tumne hamen isi liye jama kiya tha, tum halaq ho (al ayaz billah), is par Surah Lahab nazil hui.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ: صَعِدَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمًا الصَّفَا , فَقَالَ:" يَا صَبَاحَاهْ، يَا صَبَاحَاهْ" , قَالَ: فَاجْتَمَعَتْ إِلَيْهِ قُرَيْشٌ، فَقَالُوا لَهُ: مَا لَكَ؟ فَقَالَ:" أَرَأَيْتُمْ لَوْ أَخْبَرْتُكُمْ أَنَّ الْعَدُوَّ مُصَبِّحُكُمْ أَوْ مُمَسِّيكُمْ، أَمَا كُنْتُمْ تُصَدِّقُونِي؟" , فَقَالُوا: بَلَى , قَالَ: فَقَالَ:" إِنِّي نَذِيرٌ لَكُمْ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ عَذَابٍ شَدِيدٍ" , قَالَ: فَقَالَ أَبُو لَهَبٍ: أَلِهَذَا جَمَعْتَنَا؟ تَبًّا لَكَ , قَالَ: فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ تَبَّتْ يَدَا أَبِي لَهَبٍ وَتَبَّ سورة المسد آية 1 , إِلَى آخِرِ السُّورَةِ.
