The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 2543
Once, Umar Farooq (may Allah be pleased with him) asked: "Who knows about Laylatul Qadr, when it occurs?" Upon this, Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Laylatul Qadr occurs in the last ten nights of Ramadan, after seven nights have passed (27th night) or when seven nights remain (23rd night)."

ایک مرتبہ سیدنا عمر فاروق رضی اللہ عنہ نے پوچھا: لیلۃ القدر کے بارے کون جانتا ہے کہ وہ کب ہوتی ہے؟ اس پر سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے فرمایا کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ کا ارشاد ہے کہ ”شب قدر رمضان کے عشرہ اخیرہ میں ہوتی ہے، سات راتیں گزرنے پر (ستائیسویں شب) یا سات راتیں باقی رہ جانے پر (تئیسویں شب)۔“
Ek martaba Sayyidna Umar Farooq (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne poocha: Laylatul Qadr ke bare mein kaun janta hai ke woh kab hoti hai? Is par Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a ne farmaya ke Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ka irshad hai ke "Shab e Qadr Ramazan ke ashra akhir mein hoti hai, saat raaten guzarne par (sattaiswein shab) ya saat raaten baqi reh jane par (teiswein shab)."
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمٌ الْأَحْوَلُ ، عَنْ لَاحِقِ بْنِ حُمَيْدٍ ، وَعِكْرِمَةَ , قَالَا: قَالَ عُمَرُ: مَنْ يَعْلَمُ مَتَى لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ؟ قَالَا: فقال بن عباس : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" هِيَ فِي الْعَشْرِ، فِي سَبْعٍ يَمْضِينَ، أَوْ سَبْعٍ يَبْقَيْنَ".
