Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 25841
Yazid bin Babnus said: Once, I went to Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) with my companion and asked for permission to enter. She placed a cushion for us and drew the curtain towards herself. Then my companion asked, "O Mother of the Believers, what do you say about 'iraq'?" She replied, "What is 'iraq'?" I tapped my companion on the shoulder, and Aisha, stopping me, said, "You have hurt your brother." Then she said, "What is meant by 'iraq'? It means 'hayd' (menstruation). So say the word directly as Allah has used it, that is, 'hayd'. Sometimes I would be menstruating, but the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would cover me and kiss my head, and there would be a curtain between me and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)." She further said, "It was the blessed habit of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that whenever he passed by the door of my house, he would say something that would benefit me from Allah Almighty. One day, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) passed by but did not say anything. When this happened two or three times, I said to my maidservant, 'Put a cushion at the door for me.' I tied a cloth on my head and sat there. When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) passed by me, he said, 'Aisha, what is the matter?' I said, 'I have a headache.' The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, 'I also have a headache.' Then he left. After a while, people brought the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) wrapped in a sheet. He stayed with me and sent a message to the other wives, 'I am sick, and I do not have the strength to visit each of you in turn. So, if you allow me, I will stay with Aisha?' They all gave permission, and I began to care for the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), although I had never cared for anyone before." One day, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was resting his head on my shoulder when suddenly his head tilted towards my head. I thought he might want to kiss my head, but at that moment, a drop of saliva came out of his mouth and fell on my chest. I got goosebumps and thought that he might have fainted. So I covered him with a sheet. Meanwhile, Umar and Mughirah bin Shuba (may Allah be pleased with them) arrived and asked for permission to enter. I granted them permission and drew the curtain towards myself. Seeing the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), Umar said, "Alas, unconsciousness! How intense is the unconsciousness of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)!" A little later, he got up. As they both approached the door, Mughirah bin Shuba said, "O Umar, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has passed away." Umar said, "You are wrong. Rather, you are a mischief-maker. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) cannot pass away until Allah Almighty eliminates the hypocrites." After a while, Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) also arrived. I lifted the curtain. He looked at the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and recited, "Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return." He said, "The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has passed away." Then, he came towards the head of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and kissed his forehead, saying, "Alas, my Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)!" He did this three times. The second time, he said, "Alas, my friend!" and the third time, "Alas, my beloved!" Then he went out towards the mosque. At that time, Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was addressing the people, saying, "The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) cannot pass away until Allah Almighty eliminates the hypocrites." Then Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) began to speak. After praising and glorifying Allah, he said, "Allah Almighty says, 'You (O Muhammad SAW) will also die, and so will they (i.e., all mankind after you).' And He says, 'Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) is no more than a Messenger, and indeed (many) Messengers have passed away before him. If he dies or is killed, will you then turn back on your heels (as disbelievers)?' So, whoever used to worship Allah, let him know that Allah is Alive and whoever used to worship Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), let him know that he has passed away." Hearing these verses, Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Are these verses present in the Book of Allah?" My mind could not comprehend that this verse was also present in the Book of Allah. Then Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "O people! This is Abu Bakr, the elder of the Muslims. So pledge allegiance to him." Consequently, the people pledged allegiance to him.

یزید بن بابنوس کہتے ہیں کہ ایک مرتبہ میں اپنے ساتھی کے ساتھ حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوا اور ان سے اجازت طلب کی، انہوں نے ہمارے لئے تکیہ رکھا اور خود اپنی طرف پردہ کھینچ لیا، پھر میرے ساتھی نے پوچھا کہ اے ام المومنین! " عراک " کے متعلق آپ کیا فرماتی ہیں! انہوں نے فرمایا عراک کیا ہوتا ہے؟ میں نے اپنے ساتھی کے کندھے پر ہاتھ مارا، حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا نے روکتے ہوئے فرمایا تم نے اپنے بھائی کو ایذا پہنچائی، پھر فرمایا عراک سے کیا مراد ہے؟ حیض، تو سیدھا سیدھا وہ لفظ بولو جو اللہ نے استعمال کیا ہے، یعنی حیض، بعض اوقات میں حائضہ ہوتی تھی لیکن پھر بھی نبی ﷺ مجھے ڈھانپ لیتے تھے اور میرے سر کو بوسہ دے دیا کرتے تھے اور میرے اور نبی ﷺ کے درمیان پردہ حائل ہوتا تھا۔ پھر فرمایا کہ نبی ﷺ کی عادت مبارکہ تھی کہ جب میرے گھر کے دروازے سے گزرتے تھے تو کوئی نہ کوئی ایسی بات کہہ دیتے تھے جس سے اللہ تعالیٰ مجھے فائدہ پہنچا دیتے تھے، ایک دن نبی ﷺ وہاں سے گزرے تو کچھ نہیں کہا، دو تین مرتبہ جب اسی طرح ہوا تو میں نے اپنی باندی سے کہا کہ میرے لئے دروازے پر تکیہ لگا دو اور میں اپنے سر پر پٹی باندھ کر وہاں بیٹھ گئی، جب نبی ﷺ میرے پاس سے گزرے تو فرمایا عائشہ! کیا بات ہے؟ میں نے عرض کیا میرے سر میں درد ہو رہا ہے، نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا میرے بھی سر میں درد ہو رہا ہے، پھر نبی ﷺ چلے گئے، تھوڑی دیر گزری تھی کہ نبی ﷺ کو لوگ چادر میں لپیٹ کر اٹھائے چلے آئے، نبی ﷺ میرے یہاں رہے اور دیگر ازواج کے پاس یہ پیغام بھجوا دیا کہ میں بیمار ہوں اور تم میں سے ہر ایک کے پاس باری باری آنے کی مجھ میں طاقت نہیں ہے اس لئے تم اگر مجھے اجازت دے دو تو میں عائشہ کے یہاں رک جاؤں؟ ان سب نے اجازت دے دی اور میں نبی ﷺ کی تیمارداری کرنے لگی حالانکہ اس سے پہلے میں نے کبھی کسی کی تیماداری نہیں کی تھی۔ ایک دن نبی ﷺ نے اپنا سر مبارک میرے کندھے پر رکھا ہوا تھا کہ اچانک سر مبارک میرے سر کی جانب ڈھک گیا میں سمجھی کہ شاید آپ میرے سر کو بوسہ دینا چاہتے ہیں، لیکن اسی دوران نبی ﷺ کے منہ سے لعاب کا ایک قطرہ نکلا اور میرے سینے پر آٹپکا، میرے تو رونگٹے کھڑے ہوگئے اور میں سمجھی کہ شاید نبی ﷺ پر غشی طاری ہوگئی ہے چنانچہ میں نے نبی ﷺ کو ایک چادر اوڑھا دی، اسی دوران حضرت عمر اور مغیرہ بن شعبہ رضی اللہ عنہ آگئے، انہوں نے اجازت طلب کی، میں نے انہیں اجازت دے دی اور اپنی طرف پردہ کھینچ لیا، حضرت عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے نبی ﷺ کو دیکھ کر کہا ہائے غشی! نبی ﷺ پر غشی کی شدت کتنی ہے، تھوڑی دیر بعد وہ اٹھ کھڑے ہوئے جب وہ دونوں دروازے کے قریب پہنچے تو مغیرہ بن شعبہ کہنے لگے اے عمر! نبی ﷺ کا وصال ہوگیا ہے، حضرت عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے فرمایا تم غلط کہتے ہو، بلکہ تم فتنہ پرور آدمی ہو، نبی ﷺ کا وصال اس وقت تک نہیں ہوسکتا جب تک کہ اللہ تعالیٰ منافقین کی ختم نہ کر دے۔ تھوڑی دیر بعد حضرت صدیق اکبر رضی اللہ عنہ بھی آگئے، میں نے حجاب اٹھا دیا، انہوں نے نبی ﷺ کی طرف دیکھ کر " اناللہ وانا الیہ راجعون " پڑھا اور کہنے لگے کہ نبی ﷺ کا وصال ہوگیا ہے۔ پھر سرہانے کی جانب سے آئے اور منہ مبارک پر جھک کر پیشانی کو بوسہ دیا اور کہنے لگے ہائے میرے نبی ﷺ ! تین مرتبہ اسی طرح کیا اور دوسری مرتبہ ہائے میرے دوست اور تیسری مرتبہ ہائے میرے خلیل کہا، پھر مسجد کی طرف نکلے، اس وقت حضرت عمر رضی اللہ عنہ لوگوں کے سامنے تقریر اور گفتگو کر رہے تھے اور کہہ رہے تھے کہ نبی ﷺ کا وصال اس وقت تک نہیں ہوگا جب تک اللہ تعالیٰ منافقین کو ختم نہ فرما دے۔ پھر حضرت ابوبکر صدیق رضی اللہ عنہ نے گفتگو شروع کی اور اللہ کی حمدوثناء بیان کرنے کے بعد فرمایا اللہ تعالیٰ فرماتا ہے " آپ بھی دنیا سے رخصت ہونے والے ہیں اور یہ لوگ بھی مرنے والے ہیں "۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔ اور یہ کہ " محمد ﷺ تو اللہ کے رسول ہیں جن سے پہلے بھی بہت رسول گذر چکے ہیں، کیا اگر وہ فوت ہوجائیں یا شہید ہوجائیں تو تم ایڑیوں کے بل لوٹ جاؤ گے "۔۔۔۔۔ سو جو شخص اللہ تعالیٰ کی عبادت کرتا تھا وہ جان لے کہ اللہ تعالیٰ زندہ ہے اور جو شخص محمد ﷺ کی عبادت کرتا تھا تو وہ جان لے کہ وہ فوت ہوگئے ہیں، مذکورہ آیات سن کر حضرت عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کیا یہ آیات کتاب اللہ میں موجود ہیں؟ میرا شعور ہی اس طرف نہیں جاسکا کہ یہ آیت بھی کتاب اللہ میں ہی موجود ہے، پھر حضرت عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے فرمایا لوگو! یہ ابوبکر ہیں اور مسلمانوں کے بزرگ ہیں اس لئے ان کی بیعت کرلو، چنانچہ لوگوں نے ان کی بیعت کر لی۔
Yazid bin Babnus kehte hain ki aik martaba mein apne saathi ke sath Hazrat Ayesha ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) ki khidmat mein hazir hua aur un se ijazat talab ki, unhon ne hamare liye takiya rakha aur khud apni taraf parda khench liya, phir mere saathi ne poocha ki aye Ummul Momineen! "Urak" ke mutalliq aap kya farmati hain! Unhon ne farmaya Urak kya hota hai? Maine apne saathi ke kandhe par hath mara, Hazrat Ayesha ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) ne rote hue farmaya tum ne apne bhai ko eza pahunchai, phir farmaya Urak se kya murad hai? Haiz, to seedha seedha woh lafz bolo jo Allah ne istemal kiya hai, yani Haiz, baaz auqat mein haiza hoti thi lekin phir bhi Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) mujhe dhanp lete the aur mere sar ko bosa de diya karte the aur mere aur Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke darmiyan parda ha'il hota tha. Phir farmaya ki Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki aadat mubarakah thi ki jab mere ghar ke darwaze se guzarte the to koi na koi aisi baat keh dete the jis se Allah Ta'ala mujhe faida pahuncha dete the, ek din Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) wahan se guzre to kuchh nahin kaha, do teen martaba jab isi tarah hua to maine apni bandi se kaha ki mere liye darwaze par takiya laga do aur mein apne sar par patti bandh kar wahan baith gayi, jab Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) mere paas se guzre to farmaya Ayesha! Kya baat hai? Maine arz kiya mere sar mein dard ho raha hai, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya mere bhi sar mein dard ho raha hai, phir Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) chale gaye, thori der guzri thi ki Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko log chadar mein lapet kar uthaye chale aaye, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) mere yahan rahe aur deegar azwaj ke paas yeh paigham bhejwa diya ki mein bimar hun aur tum mein se har ek ke paas bari bari aane ki mujh mein taqat nahin hai is liye tum agar mujhe ijazat de do to mein Ayesha ke yahan ruk jaun? Un sab ne ijazat de di aur mein Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki timardari karne lagi halanki is se pehle maine kabhi kisi ki timardari nahin ki thi. Ek din Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne apna sar mubarak mere kandhe par rakha hua tha ki achanak sar mubarak mere sar ki jaanib dhak gaya mein samjhi ki shayad aap mere sar ko bosa dena chahte hain, lekin isi doran Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke munh se la'ab ka ek qatra nikla aur mere seene par aatapka, mere to ronagte khade hogaye aur mein samjhi ki shayad Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) par ghashi tari hogayi hai chunancha maine Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko ek chadar odha di, isi doran Hazrat Umar aur Mughira bin Shuba (رضي الله تعالى عنه) aagaye, unhon ne ijazat talab ki, maine unhen ijazat de di aur apni taraf parda khench liya, Hazrat Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko dekh kar kaha haye ghashi! Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) par ghashi ki shiddat kitni hai, thori der baad woh uth khade hue jab woh donon darwaze ke qareeb pahunche to Mughira bin Shuba kehne lage aye Umar! Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ka wisal hogaya hai, Hazrat Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne farmaya tum galat kehte ho, balki tum fitna parwar aadmi ho, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ka wisal us waqt tak nahin hosakta jab tak Allah Ta'ala munafiqeen ki khatam na kar de. Thori der baad Hazrat Siddiq Akbar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) bhi aagaye, maine hijab utha diya, unhon ne Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki taraf dekh kar "Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Raji'un" padha aur kehne lage ki Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ka wisal hogaya hai. Phir sarhane ki jaanib se aaye aur munh mubarak par jhuk kar peshani ko bosa diya aur kehne lage haye mere Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)! Teen martaba isi tarah kiya aur dusri martaba haye mere dost aur teesri martaba haye mere khalil kaha, phir masjid ki taraf nikle, us waqt Hazrat Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) logon ke samne taqreer aur guftgu kar rahe the aur keh rahe the ki Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ka wisal us waqt tak nahin hoga jab tak Allah Ta'ala munafiqeen ko khatam na farma de. Phir Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne guftgu shuru ki aur Allah ki hamd o sana bayan karne ke baad farmaya Allah Ta'ala farmata hai "Aap bhi duniya se rukhsat hone wale hain aur yeh log bhi marne wale hain"....... aur yeh ki "Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) to Allah ke Rasool hain jin se pehle bhi bahut Rasool guzar chuke hain, kya agar woh foot hojaen ya shaheed hojaen to tum edion ke bal laut jaoge".... So jo shakhs Allah Ta'ala ki ibadat karta tha woh jaan le ki Allah Ta'ala zinda hai aur jo shakhs Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki ibadat karta tha to woh jaan le ki woh foot hogaye hain, mazkora ayat sun kar Hazrat Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne kaha kya yeh ayat kitab Allah mein maujood hain? Mera shuur hi is taraf nahin jasaka ki yeh ayat bhi kitab Allah mein hi maujood hai, phir Hazrat Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne farmaya lo! Yeh Abu Bakr hain aur Musalmanon ke buzurg hain is liye un ki ba'ait karlo, chunancha logon ne un ki ba'ait kar li.
حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ , قَال: َحَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ , قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو عِمْرَانَ الْجَوْنِيُّ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ بَابَنُوسَ , قَالَ: ذَهَبْتُ أَنَا وَصَاحِبٌ لِي إِلَى عَائِشَةَ , فَاسْتَأْذَنَّا عَلَيْهَا , فَأَلْقَتْ لَنَا وَسَادَةً وَجَذَبَتْ إِلَيْهَا الْحِجَابَ , فَقَالَ صَاحِبِي: يَا أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ مَا تَقُولِينَ فِي الْعِرَاكِ، قَالَتْ: وَمَا الْعِرَاكُ؟ وَضَرَبْتُ مَنْكِبَ صَاحِبِي , فَقَالَت: مَهْ آذَيْتَ أَخَاكَ , ثُمّ قَالَتْ: مَا الْعِرَاكُ؟ الْمَحِيضُ؟ قُولُوا: مَا قَالَ اللَّهُ الْمَحِيضُ , ثُمّ قَالَتْ: " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَتَوَشَّحُنِي وَيَنَالُ مِنْ رَأْسِي , وَبَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُ ثَوْبٌ وَأَنَا حَائِضٌ" . ثُمَّ قَالَتْ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا مَرَّ بِبَابِي مِمَّا يُلْقِي الْكَلِمَةَ يَنْفَعُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ بِهَا , فَمَرَّ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ , فَلَمْ يَقُلْ شَيْئًا , ثُمَّ مَرَّ أَيْضًا فَلَمْ يَقُلْ شَيْئًا مَرَّتَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلَاثًا , قُلْتُ: يَا جَارِيَةُ ضَعِي لِي وِسَادَةً عَلَى الْبَابِ , وَعَصَبْتُ رَأْسِي , فَمَرَّ بِي , فَقَالَ: " يَا عَائِشَةُ مَا شَأْنُكِ" , فَقُلْتُ: أَشْتَكِي رَأْسِي , فَقَالَ:" أَنَا وَا رَأْسَاهْ" , فَذَهَبَ فَلَمْ يَلْبَثْ إِلَّا يَسِيرًا حَتَّى جِيءَ بِهِ مَحْمُولًا فِي كِسَاءٍ , فَدَخَلَ عَلَيَّ وَبَعَثَ إِلَى النِّسَاءِ , فَقَالَ:" إِنِّي قَدْ اشْتَكَيْتُ , وَإِنِّي لَا أَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ أَدُورَ بَيْنَكُنَّ , فَائْذَنَّ لِي فَلْأَكُنْ عِنْدَ عَائِشَةَ , أَوْ صَفِيَّةَ , وَلَمْ أُمَرِّضْ أَحَدًا قَبْلَهُ , فَبَيْنَمَا رَأْسُهُ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ عَلَى مَنْكِبَيَّ إِذْ مَالَ رَأْسُهُ نَحْوَ رَأْسِي , فَظَنَنْتُ أَنَّهُ يُرِيدُ مِنْ رَأْسِي حَاجَةً , فَخَرَجَتْ مِنْ فِيهِ نُطْفَةٌ بَارِدَةٌ , فَوَقَعَتْ عَلَى ثُغْرَةِ نَحْرِي , فَاقْشَعَرَّ لَهَا جِلْدِي , فَظَنَنْتُ أَنَّهُ غُشِيَ عَلَيْهِ , فَسَجَّيْتُهُ ثَوْبًا , فَجَاءَ عُمَرُ وَالْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ شُعْبَةَ , فَاسْتَأْذَنَا , فَأَذِنْتُ لَهُمَا , وَجَذَبْتُ إِلَيَّ الْحِجَابَ , فَنَظَرَ عُمَرُ إِلَيْهِ , فَقَالَ: وَاغَشْيَاهْ , مَا أَشَدُّ غَشْيَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , ثُمَّ قَامَا , فَلَمَّا دَنَوَا مِنَ الْبَابِ , قَالَ الْمُغِيرَةُ: يَا عُمَرُ , مَاتَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ: كَذَبْتَ , بَلْ أَنْتَ رَجُلٌ تَحُوسُكَ فِتْنَةٌ , إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا يَمُوتُ حَتَّى يُفْنِيَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ الْمُنَافِقِينَ , ثُمَّ جَاءَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ , فَرَفَعْتُ الْحِجَابَ , فَنَظَرَ إِلَيْهِ , فَقَالَ: إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ , مَاتَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , ثُمَّ أَتَاهُ مِنْ قِبَلِ رَأْسِهِ , فَحَدَرَ فَاهُ , وَقَبَّلَ جَبْهَتَهُ , ثُمَّ قَالَ: وَانَبِيَّاهْ , ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ , ثُمَّ حَدَرَ فَاهُ , وَقَبَّلَ جَبْهَتَهُ , ثُمَّ قَالَ: وَاصَفِيَّاهْ , ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ , وَحَدَرَ فَاهُ , وَقَبَّلَ جَبْهَتَهُ , وَقَالَ: وَاخَلِيلَاهْ , مَاتَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , فَخَرَجَ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ وَعُمَرُ يَخْطُبُ النَّاسَ وَيَتَكَلَّمُ , وَيَقُولُ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا يَمُوتُ , حَتَّى يُفْنِيَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ الْمُنَافِقِينَ , فَتَكَلَّمَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ , فَحَمِدَ اللَّهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ , ثُمَّ قَالَ: إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَقُولُ إِنَّكَ مَيِّتٌ وَإِنَّهُمْ مَيِّتُونَ سورة الزمر آية 30 , حَتَّى فَرَغَ مِنَ الْآيَةِ وَمَا مُحَمَّدٌ إِلا رَسُولٌ قَدْ خَلَتْ مِنْ قَبْلِهِ الرُّسُلُ أَفَإِنْ مَاتَ أَوْ قُتِلَ انْقَلَبْتُمْ عَلَى أَعْقَابِكُمْ سورة آل عمران آية 144 حَتَّى فَرَغَ مِنَ الْآيَةِ , فَمَنْ كَانَ يَعْبُدُ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ , فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ حَيٌّ , وَمَنْ كَانَ يَعْبُدُ مُحَمَّدًا , فَإِنَّ مُحَمَّدًا قَدْ مَاتَ , فَقَالَ عُمَرُ: وَإِنَّهَا لَفِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ؟ مَا شَعَرْتُ أَنَّهَا فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ , ثُمَّ قَالَ عُمَرُ: يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ , هَذَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ , وَهُوَ ذُو شَيْبَةِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ فَبَايِعُوهُ , فَبَايَعُوهُ" .
