The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 2620
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) passed by Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) while he was standing over a man whom he had killed. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Leave the belongings of the slain with him." (Because at that time it was the rule that whoever killed someone in the battlefield would get his belongings).

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ نبی ﷺ کا گزر سیدنا ابوقتادہ رضی اللہ عنہ کے پاس سے ہوا، وہ اس وقت ایک آدمی کے پاس کھڑے تھے جسے انہوں نے قتل کیا تھا، نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”مقتول کا ساز و سامان ان ہی کے پاس چھوڑ دو۔“ (کیونکہ اس وقت یہ اصول تھا کہ میدان جنگ میں جو شخص کسی کو قتل کرے گا اس کا ساز و سامان اسی کو ملے گا)۔
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ka guzar Sayyidna Abuqatada (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ke paas se hua, woh us waqt ek aadmi ke paas khade the jise unhon ne qatl kiya tha, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: "Maqtool ka saz o saman unhi ke paas chhod do." (kyunki us waqt ye usool tha ki maidan e jang mein jo shakhs kisi ko qatl karega us ka saz o saman usi ko milega).
حَدَّثَنَا عَتَّابٌ ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ ، عَنْ مِقْسَمٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَرَّ عَلَى أَبِي قَتَادَةَ، وَهُوَ عِنْدَ رَجُلٍ قَدْ قَتَلَهُ، فَقَالَ:" دَعُوهُ وَسَلَبَهُ".
