Hadith of Hafsa, the Mother of the Believers, daughter of Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 26461
It is narrated by Hafsa that when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would go to his bed, he would lie down on his right side, placing his right hand under his right cheek. It was the practice of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) to use his right hand for eating, drinking, performing ablution, wearing clothes, and giving and taking things. He would use his left hand for other purposes. And he would observe fast on Mondays and Thursdays.

حضرت حفصہ سے مروی ہے کہ نبی ﷺ جب اپنے بستر پر تشریف لاتے تو دائیں ہاتھ کو دائیں رخسار کے نیچے رکھ کرلیٹ جاتے اور نبی ﷺ کا معمول تھا کہ اپنا داہنا ہاتھ کھانے پینے وضو کرنے کپڑے پہننے اور لینے دینے میں استعمال فرماتے تھے اور اس کے علاوہ مواقع کے لئے بائیں ہاتھ کو استعمال فرماتے تھے اور پیر اور جمعرات کے دن کا روزہ رکھتے تھے۔
Hazrat Hafsa se marvi hai ke Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) jab apne bistar par tashreef laate to dayen hath ko dayen rukhsar ke neeche rakh kar lait jate aur Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ka mamol tha ke apna dahina hath khane peene wazu karne kapde pehenne aur lene dene mein istemal farmate thay aur iske ilawa mauke ke liye baen hath ko istemal farmate thay aur peer aur jumaraat ke din ka roza rakhte thay.
حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ، عَنْ زَائِدَةَ ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ ، عَنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ ، عَنْ حَفْصَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَتْ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِذَا أَخَذَ مَضْجَعَهُ، وَضَعَ يَدَهُ الْيُمْنَى تَحْتَ خَدِّهِ الْأَيْمَنِ، وَكَانَتْ يَمِينُهُ لِطَعَامِهِ وَطُهُورِهِ، وَصَلَاتِهِ وَثِيَابِهِ، وَكَانَتْ شِمَالُهُ لِمَا سِوَى ذَلِكَ، وَكَانَ يَصُومُ الِاثْنَيْنِ وَالْخَمِيسَ" .
