Hadith of Hafsa, the Mother of the Believers, daughter of Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 26464
It is narrated by Hafsa that whenever the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would lie down on his bed, he would lie on his right side and then recite this prayer: O Allah, save me from the punishment of the Day when You will gather Your servants. He would recite this prayer three times. And it was the habit of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that he would use his right hand for eating, drinking, performing ablution, wearing clothes, and giving and taking. And he would use his left hand for other purposes. And he would observe a fast for three days every month: on Monday, Thursday, and the 13th, 14th, and 15th.

حضرت حفصہ سے مروی ہے کہ نبی ﷺ جب اپنے بستر پر تشریف لاتے تو دائیں ہاتھ لیٹ جاتے پھر یہ دعا پڑھتے کہ پروردگار مجھے اس دن کے عذاب سے بچانا جس دن تو اپنے بندوں کو جمع فرمائے گا۔ تین مرتبہ یہ دعاء فرماتے تھے اور نبی ﷺ کا معمول تھا کہ اپنا داہنا ہاتھ کھانے پینے وضو کرنے کپڑے پہننے اور لینے دینے میں استعمال فرماتے تھے اور اس کے علاوہ مواقع کے لئے بائیں ہاتھ کو استعمال فرماتے تھے اور ہر مہینے میں تین دن روزہ رکھتے تھے پیرجمعرات اور اگلے ہفتے میں پیر کے دن۔
Hazrat Hafsa se marvi hai keh Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) jab apne bistar par tashreef laate toh dain hath leit jate phir yeh dua parhte keh Parwardigaar mujhe is din ke azab se bachana jis din tu apne bandon ko jama farmaye ga. Teen martaba yeh dua farmate thay aur Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ka mamol tha keh apna dahina hath khane pine wazu karne kapre pehenne aur lene dene mein istemal farmate thay aur is ke alawa mawaqe ke liye baen hath ko istemal farmate thay aur har mahine mein teen din roza rakhte thay Pirjumarat aur agle hafte mein peer ke din.
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمُ بْنُ بَهْدَلَةَ ، عَنْ سَوَاءٍ الْخُزَاعِيِّ ، عَنْ حَفْصَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَتْ: كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِذَا أَوَى إِلَى فِرَاشِهِ، اضْطَجَعَ عَلَى يَدِهِ الْيُمْنَى، ثُمَّ قَالَ:" رَبِّ قِنِي عَذَابَكَ يَوْمَ تَبْعَثُ عِبَادَكَ" ثَلَاثَ مِرَارٍ، وَكَانَ يَجْعَلُ يَمِينَهُ لِأَكْلِهِ وَشُرْبِهِ، وَوُضُوئِهِ وَثِيَابِهِ، وَأَخْذِهِ وَعَطَائِهِ، وَيَجْعَلُ شِمَالَهُ لِمَا سِوَى ذَلِكَ، وَكَانَ يَصُومُ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ: الِاثْنَيْنِ، وَالْخَمِيسَ، وَالِاثْنَيْنِ مِنَ الْجُمُعَةِ الْأُخْرَى .
