Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 26581
It is narrated on the authority of Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: A woman whose husband has died should not wear dyed (bright colored), deep-colored clothes, nor should she wear any jewelry, apply henna, or apply kohl (eye makeup).

حضرت ام سلمہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ نبی ﷺ نے ارشاد فرمایا جس عورت کا شوہر فوت ہوجائے وہ عصفریا گہرا رنگا ہوا کپڑا نہ پہنے نہ ہی کوئی زیور پہنے، خضاب لگائے اور نہ ہی سرمہ لگائے۔
Hazrat Umm Salma ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) se marvi hai ki Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne irshad farmaya jis aurat ka shohar faut ho jaye wo asfariya gehra ranga hua kapra na pehne na hi koi zewar pehne khuzab lagaye aur na hi surma lagaye.
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي بُكَيْرٍ , حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ طَهْمَانَ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي بُدَيْلٌ ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ ، عَنْ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتِ شَيْبَةَ ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , أَنَّهُ قَالَ: " الْمُتَوَفَّى عَنْهَا زَوْجُهَا لَا تَلْبَسُ الْمُعَصْفَرَةَ مِنَ الثِّيَابِ، وَلَا الْمُمَشَّقَةَ، وَلَا الْحُلِيَّ، وَلَا تَخْتَضِبُ، وَلَا تَكْتَحِلُ" .
