Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 26697
It is narrated on the authority of Umme Salma (may Allah be pleased with her) that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say that whoever is afflicted with a calamity and says "Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un" (To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return) and then prays, "O Allah! Reward me in this calamity of mine and grant me a better substitute for it", then Allah will grant him reward for his calamity and give him a better substitute for it. When my husband Abu Salma passed away, I thought to myself who could be better than Abu Salma? Nevertheless, Allah Almighty granted me strength and dignity, and I prayed this prayer. After my waiting period (iddah) was over, Abu Bakr and Umar, one after the other, sent proposals for marriage, but I did not accept. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sent Umar to me with his proposal. I submitted to him, "Convey to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that I am a very jealous woman, I have children, and I do not even have a guardian here." Umar came back and conveyed these words to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Go back to her and say that I will pray to Allah and your jealousy will disappear. As for the children, you will continue to suffice for them, and as for the guardian, none of your guardians, whether present or absent, will dislike it."

حضرت ام سلمہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ میں نے نبی ﷺ کو یہ فرماتے ہوئے سنا کہ جس شخص کو کوئی مصیبت پہنچے اور وہ اناللہ وانا الیہ راجعون کہہ کر یہ دعا کرلے کہ اے اللہ! مجھے اس مصیبت پر اجرعطا فرما اور مجھے اس کا بہترین نعم البدل عطاء فرما تو اللہ تعالیٰ اسے اس کی مصیبت پر اجر فرمائے گا اور اسے اس کا نعم البدل عطا فرمائے گا جب میرے شوہر ابوسلمہ فوت ہوئے تو میں نے سوچا کہ ابوسلمہ سے بہتر کون ہوسکتا ہے پھر بھی اللہ تعالیٰ نے مجھے عزت کی قوت دی اور میں نے یہ دعاء پڑھ لی، عدت گزرنے کے بعد حضرات ابوبکر اور عمر نے باری باری پیغام نکاح بھیجا لیکن انہوں نے حامی نہ بھری، پھر نبی ﷺ نے حضرت عمر کو ان کے پاس اپنے لئے پیغام نکاح دے کر بھیجا انہوں نے عرض کیا کہ نبی ﷺ کو بتا دیجئے کہ میں بہت غیور عورت ہوں، میرے بچے بھی ہیں اور میرا تو کوئی ولی بھی یہاں موجود نہیں ہے، حضرت عمر نے آ کر یہ باتیں نبی ﷺ کو بتادیں، نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا ان سے جا کر کہہ دو کہ میں اللہ سے دعا کردوں گا اور تمہاری غیرت دور ہو جائیگی باقی رہے بچے تو تم ان کی کفایت کرتی رہنا اور باقی رہا ولی تو تمہارے اولیاء میں سے کوئی بھی خواہ وہ غائب ہو یا حاضر اسے ناپسند نہیں کرے گا۔
Hazrat Umme Salma RA se marvi hai keh maine Nabi SAW ko yeh farmate huye suna keh jis shakhs ko koi museebat pohonche aur wo Inna Lillahe Wa Inna Ilaihe Rajeoon keh kar yeh dua karle keh aye Allah mujhe is museebat par ajr ata farma aur mujhe iska behtarin نعم البدل ata farma to Allah Ta'ala usay iski museebat par ajr farmaye ga aur usay iska نعم البدل ata farmaye ga jab mere shohar Abu Salma فوت huye to maine socha keh Abu Salma se behtar kaun ho sakta hai phir bhi Allah Ta'ala ne mujhe izzat ki quwwat di aur maine yeh dua parh li iddat guzarne ke baad Hazrat Abubakar aur Umar ne bari bari paigham nikah bheja lekin unhon ne haami na bhari phir Nabi SAW ne Hazrat Umar ko unke paas apne liye paigham nikah de kar bheja unhon ne arz kiya keh Nabi SAW ko bata dijiye keh main bohat ghair aurat hun mere bache bhi hain aur mera to koi wali bhi yahan mojood nahi hai Hazrat Umar ne aa kar yeh baatein Nabi SAW ko bata din Nabi SAW ne farmaya unse ja kar keh do keh main Allah se dua karunga aur tumhari ghairat door ho jaye gi baqi rahe bache to tum unki kifayat karti rehna aur baqi raha wali to tumhare awliya mein se koi bhi chahe wo ghaib ho ya hazir usay napasand nahi kare ga.
حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ الْبُنَانِيِّ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بِمِنًى، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، قَالَتْ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " مَنْ أَصَابَتْهُ مُصِيبَةٌ، فَلْيَقُلْ: إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ، اللَّهُمَّ عِنْدَكَ أَحْتَسِبُ مُصِيبَتِي، فَأْجُرْنِي فِيهَا وَأَبْدِلْنِي بِهَا خَيْرًا مِنْهَا" , فَلَمَّا مَاتَ أَبُو سَلَمَةَ قُلْتُهَا، فَجَعَلْتُ كُلَّمَا بَلَغْتُ وَأَبْدِلْنِي بِهَا خَيْرًا مِنْهَا، قُلْتُ فِي نَفْسِي وَمَنْ خَيْرٌ مِنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، ثُمَّ قُلْتُهَا , فَلَمَّا انْقَضَتْ عِدَّتُهَا، بَعَثَ إِلَيْهَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ يَخْطُبُهَا، فَلَمْ تَزَوَّجْهُ، فَبَعَثَ إِلَيْهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ يَخْطُبُهَا عَلَيْهِ، فَقَالَتْ: أَخْبِرْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنِّي امْرَأَةٌ غَيْرَى، وَأَنِّي امْرَأَةٌ مُصْبِيَةٌ، وَلَيْسَ أَحَدٌ مِنْ أَوْلِيَائِي شَاهِدًا , فَأَتَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَذَكَرَ لَهُ ذَلِكَ، فَقَالَ:" ارْجِعْ إِلَيْهَا، فَقُلْ لَهَا: أَمَّا قَوْلُكِ إِنِّي امْرَأَةٌ غَيْرَى، فَأَدْعُو اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ، فَيُذْهِبُ غَيْرَتَكِ، وَأَمَّا قَوْلُكِ: إِنِّي امْرَأَةٌ مُصْبِيَةٌ، فَسَتُكْفَيْنَ صِبْيَانَكِ، وَأَمَّا قَوْلُكِ: إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ أَحَدٌ مِنْ أَوْلِيَائِكِ شَاهِدًا، فَلَيْسَ أَحَدٌ مِنْ أَوْلِيَائِكِ شَاهِدٌ وَلَا غَائِبٌ يَكْرَهُ ذَلِكَ" .
