The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 2705
Sayyiduna Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) narrates that once, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) passed by some people of the Ansar who had captured a pigeon and were using it for target practice. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Do not tie up any living creature and then use it for target practice."

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ ایک مرتبہ نبی ﷺ انصار کے کچھ لوگوں کے پاس سے گزرے جنہوں نے ایک کبوتر کو پکڑا ہوا تھا اور وہ اس پر اپنا نشانہ صحیح کر رہے تھے، نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”کسی ذی روح چیز کو باندھ کر اس پر نشانہ صحیح مت کرو۔“
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a kehte hain ki ek martaba Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) Ansar ke kuch logon ke paas se guzre jinhon ne ek kabutar ko pakda hua tha aur wo us par apna nishana sahi kar rahe the, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: "Kisi zi rooh cheez ko bandh kar us par nishana sahi mat karo."
حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ ، وَخَلَفُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ , قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ: مَرَّ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِرَهْطٍ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ، وَقَدْ نَصَبُوا حَمَامَةً يَرْمُونَهَا، فَقَالَ:" لَا تَتَّخِذُوا شَيْئًا فِيهِ الرُّوحُ غَرَضًا".
