Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 27203
It is narrated on the authority of Uqra bin Habis (may Allah be pleased with him) that once he called out to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) from outside the rooms, but the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) did not answer him. He then called out again, "O Messenger of Allah," and said, "My praise is a source of honor for me and my criticism is a source of shame and disgrace for me." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "This is only for Allah."

حضرت اقرع بن حابس رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ انہوں نے نبی ﷺ کو حجروں سے باہر سے پکار کر آواز دی، نبی ﷺ نے انہیں کوئی جواب نہ دیا، انہوں نے پھر یا رسول اللہ کہہ کر آواز لگائی اور کہا کہ میری تعریف باعث زینت اور میری مذمت باعث عیب و شرمندگی ہوتی ہے، نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”یہ کام تو صرف اللہ کا ہے۔“
Hazrat Aqra bin Habis (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se marvi hai ki ek martaba unhon ne Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko hujron se bahar se pukar kar awaz di, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne unhen koi jawab na diya, unhon ne phir Ya Rasulullah keh kar awaz lagai aur kaha ki meri tareef baais zeenat aur meri mazammat baais aib o sharmindagi hoti hai, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: "Yeh kaam to sirf Allah ka hai".
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ عُقْبَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ الْأَقْرَعِ بْنِ حَابِسٍ , أَنَّهُ نَادَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ وَرَاءِ الْحُجُرَاتِ، فَقَالَ: يَا مُحَمَّدُ , إِنَّ حَمْدِي زَيْنٌ , وَإِنَّ ذَمِّي شَيْنٌ، فَقَالَ: " ذَاكُمْ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ" ، كَمَا حَدَّثَ أَبُو سَلَمَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.
