The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 2724
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidina Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) looked towards Mount Uhud and said, "By the One in Whose grip of power my soul is, I do not wish that Mount Uhud be turned into gold for the sake of the family of Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). I would rather spend from it in the name of Allah, and when I die, may I not have even two dinars left with me except for two dinars that I would keep for the repayment of a debt, if at all there is a debt." And so, when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) passed away, you (may Allah be pleased with him) did not leave behind any dinar or dirham, nor any slave or maidservant. In fact, your armor (may Allah be pleased with you) was pledged to a Jew from whom the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had borrowed thirty saa's of barley.

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ نبی ﷺ نے احد پہاڑ کی طرف دیکھ کر فرمایا: ”اس ذات کی قسم! جس کے قبضہ قدرت میں میری جان ہے، مجھے یہ بات پسند نہیں ہے کہ آل محمد ﷺ کے لئے احد پہاڑ کو سونے کا بنا دیا جائے، میں اس میں سے اللہ کے نام پر خرچ کرتا رہوں اور جس دن مروں تو اس میں سے دو دینار بھی میرے پاس بچے ہوں، سوائے ان دو دیناروں کے جو میں قرض کی ادائیگی کے لئے رکھ لوں، بشرطیکہ قرض ہو بھی۔“ چنانچہ جب نبی ﷺ کا وصال ہوا تو آپ ﷺ نے ترکہ میں کوئی دینار یا درہم، اور کوئی غلام یا باندی نہ چھوڑی بلکہ آپ ﷺ کی زرہ ایک یہودی کے پاس گروی کے طور پر رکھی ہوئی تھی جس سے نبی ﷺ نے تیس صاع جو لئے تھے۔
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki ek martaba Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne Uhud pahari ki taraf dekh kar farmaya: “Is zaat ki qasam! Jis ke qabza qudrat mein meri jaan hai, mujhe ye baat pasand nahi hai ki Aal-e-Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke liye Uhud pahar ko sone ka bana diya jaye, mein is mein se Allah ke naam par kharch karta rahun aur jis din marun to is mein se do dinar bhi mere pass bache hon, siwaye in do dinaron ke jo mein qarz ki adaegi ke liye rakh lun, basharte ke qarz ho bhi.” Chunancha jab Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ka wisal hua to aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne tarke mein koi dinar ya dirham, aur koi gulam ya bandi nah chori balki aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki zirah ek yahudi ke pass giro ke taur par rakhi hui thi jisse Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne tees sau jo liye the.
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، وَأَبُو سَعِيدٍ الْمَعْنَى , قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِلَالُ بْنُ خَبَّابٍ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْتَفَتَ إِلَى أُحُدٍ، فَقَالَ:" وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ، مَا يَسُرُّنِي أَنَّ أُحُدًا يُحَوَّلُ لِآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ ذَهَبًا أُنْفِقُهُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ، أَمُوتُ يَوْمَ أَمُوتُ , أَدَعُ مِنْهُ دِينَارَيْنِ، إِلَّا دِينَارَيْنِ أُعِدُّهُمَا لِدَيْنٍ إِنْ كَانَ" , فَمَاتَ، وَمَا تَرَكَ دِينَارًا وَلَا دِرْهَمًا، وَلَا عَبْدًا وَلَا وَلِيدَةً، وَتَرَكَ دِرْعَهُ مَرْهُونَةً عِنْدَ يَهُودِيٍّ عَلَى ثَلَاثِينَ صَاعًا مِنْ شَعِيرٍ.
