Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 27597
It is narrated on the authority of Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Lying is not permissible except in three cases: A man who tells a lie to please his wife, a man who tells a lie during war, and a man who tells a lie to reconcile between two Muslims."

حضرت اسماء رضی اللہ عنہا سے مروی ہے کہ نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”جھوٹ بولنا کسی صورت صحیح نہیں سوائے تین جگہوں کے، ایک تو وہ آدمی جو اپنی بیوی کو خوش رکھنے کے لئے جھوٹ بولے، دوسرے وہ آدمی جو جنگ میں جھوٹ بولے، تیسرے وہ آدمی جو دو مسلمانوں کے درمیان صلح کرانے کے لئے جھوٹ بولے۔“
Hazrat Asma ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) se marvi hai ki Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: "Jhoot bolna kisi surat sahih nahin siwaye teen jagahon ke, ek to wo aadmi jo apni biwi ko khush rakhne ke liye jhoot bole, dusre wo aadmi jo jang mein jhoot bole, teesre wo aadmi jo do muslimon ke darmiyan sulah karane ke liye jhoot bole."
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ خُثَيْمٍ ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ: " لَا يَصْلُحُ الْكَذِبُ إِلَّا فِي ثَلَاثٍ: كَذِبُ الرَّجُلِ مَعَ امْرَأَتِهِ لِتَرْضَى عَنْهُ، أَوْ كَذِبٌ فِي الْحَرْبِ، فَإِنَّ الْحَرْبَ خَدْعَةٌ، أَوْ كَذِبٌ فِي إِصْلَاحٍ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ" .
