The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 2770
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Two Muslims met at the gate of Paradise, one of them was rich in the world and the other was poor. The poor one entered Paradise and the rich one was held back, and he was kept waiting until Allah willed. Then he too entered Paradise. There he met the poor man, who asked him, 'Brother! What took you so long? By Allah! You were detained for so long that I began to worry.' He replied, 'Brother! After you, I was stopped at such a difficult and unpleasant stage that before I could reach you, so much sweat had poured from my body that if there had been a thousand hungry and thirsty camels and they had drunk this sweat instead of water, they would have been satisfied.'"

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے ارشاد فرمایا: ”دو مسلمانوں کی جنت کے دروازے پر ملاقات ہوئی، دنیا میں ان میں سے ایک مالدار تھا اور دوسرا غریب، فقیر تو جنت میں داخل ہو گیا اور مالدار کو روک لیا گیا، اور جب تک اللہ کو منظور ہوا، اسے روکے رکھا گیا، پھر وہ بھی جنت میں داخل ہو گیا، وہاں اس کی ملاقات اس غریب سے ہوئی، اس غریب آدمی نے اس سے پوچھا کہ بھائی! آپ کو کس وجہ سے اتنی دیر ہوگئی؟ واللہ! آپ نے تو اتنی دیر کر دی کہ مجھے اندیشہ ہونے لگا، اس نے جواب دیا کہ بھائی! آپ کے بعد مجھے اس طرح روکا گیا جو انتہائی سخت اور ناگوار مرحلہ تھا، اور آپ تک پہنچنے سے پہلے میرے جسم سے اتنا پسینہ بہا ہے کہ اگر ایک ہزار بھوکے پیاسے اونٹ بھی ہوتے اور وہ اس پسینے کو پانی کی جگہ پیتے تو سیراب ہو جاتے۔“
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki Rasulullah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne Irshad farmaya: “Do Musalmanon ke Jannat ke darwaze par mulaqat hui, duniya mein in mein se ek maldar tha aur dusra gareeb, faqir to Jannat mein dakhil ho gaya aur maldar ko rok liya gaya, aur jab tak Allah ko manzur hua, use roke rakha gaya, phir wo bhi Jannat mein dakhil ho gaya, wahan uski mulaqat us gareeb se hui, us gareeb aadmi ne us se puchha ki bhai! Aap ko kis wajah se itni dair hogayi? Wallahi! Aap ne to itni dair kar di ki mujhe andesha hone laga, usne jawab diya ki bhai! Aap ke baad mujhe is tarah roka gaya jo intehai sakht aur nagawar marhala tha, aur aap tak pahunchne se pehle mere jism se itna paseena baha hai ki agar ek hazar bhooke pyase unt bhi hote aur wo is paseene ko pani ki jagah peete to serab ho jate.”
حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا دُوَيْدٌ ، عَنْ سَلْمِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ: قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" الْتَقَى مُؤْمِنَانِ عَلَى بَابِ الْجَنَّةِ مُؤْمِنٌ غَنِيٌّ، وَمُؤْمِنٌ فَقِيرٌ، كَانَا فِي الدُّنْيَا، فَأُدْخِلَ الْفَقِيرُ الْجَنَّةَ , وَحُبِسَ الْغَنِيُّ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ أَنْ يُحْبَسَ، ثُمَّ أُدْخِلَ الْجَنَّةَ، فَلَقِيَهُ الْفَقِيرُ، فَيَقُولُ: أَيْ أَخِي، مَاذَا حَبَسَكَ؟ وَاللَّهِ لَقَدْ احْتُبِسْتَ حَتَّى خِفْتُ عَلَيْكَ , فَيَقُولُ: أَيْ أَخِي، إِنِّي حُبِسْتُ بَعْدَكَ مَحْبِسًا فَظِيعًا كَرِيهًا، وَمَا وَصَلْتُ إِلَيْكَ حَتَّى سَالَ مِنِّي الْعَرَقُ، مَا لَوْ وَرَدَهُ أَلْفُ بَعِيرٍ، كُلُّهَا آكِلَةُ حَمْضٍ، لَصَدَرَتْ عَنْهُ رِوَاءً".
