The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 2838
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn 'Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, that the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, used to teach him this supplication in the same way as he would teach a Surah of the Holy Qur'an, and he would say: "Say like this: 'O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the punishment of Hellfire, and I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave, and I seek refuge in You from the tribulation of the Messiah, the Dajjal, and I seek refuge in You from the tribulation of life and the tribulation of death."

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ نبی ﷺ انہیں یہ دعا اس طرح سکھاتے تھے جیسے قرآن کریم کی کوئی سورت سکھاتے تھے، اور فرماتے تھے: ”یوں کہا کرو: «اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ جَهَنَّمَ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ فِتْنَةِ الْمَسِيحِ الدَّجَّالِ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ فِتْنَةِ الْمَحْيَا وَفِتْنَةِ الْمَمَاتِ» ”اے اللہ! میں عذاب جہنم سے، عذاب قبر سے، مسیح دجال کے فتنہ سے اور زندگی اور موت کی آزمائش سے آپ کی پناہ میں آتا ہوں۔“
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) unhen ye dua is tarah sikhatay thay jaise Quran Kareem ki koi surat sikhatay thay, aur farmatay thay: “Yun kaha karo: Allahumma inni aAAoothu bika min AAathaabi jahannama wa aAAoothu bika min AAathaabil-qabri wa aAAoothu bika min fitnatil-maseehid-dajjaali wa aAAoothu bika min fitnatil-mahya wa fitnatil-mamaat ”ay Allah! main azab jahannam se, azab qabar se, Masih Dajjal ke fitna se aur zindagi aur maut ki azmaish se aap ki panaah mein aata hun.”
حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ طَاوُسٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يُعَلِّمُهُمْ هَذَا الدُّعَاءَ، كَمَا يُعَلِّمُهُمْ السُّورَةَ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ، يَقُولُ:" قُولُوا اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ جَهَنَّمَ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ فِتْنَةِ الْمَسِيحِ الدَّجَّالِ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ فِتْنَةِ الْمَحْيَا وَفِتْنَةِ الْمَمَاتِ".
