The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 2893
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidina Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "I have been commanded to use the Miswak (tooth-stick) so emphatically that I feared that its observance might be made obligatory on me (through revelation).".

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے ارشاد فرمایا: ”مجھے مسواک کا حکم اس تاکید کے ساتھ دیا گیا کہ مجھے اندیشہ ہونے لگا کہ کہیں اس بارے میں مجھ پر قرآن کی کوئی آیت نازل نہ ہو جائے (اور میری امت اس حکم کو پورا نہ کر سکے)۔“
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne irshad farmaya: “Mujhe miswak ka hukum is takid ke sath diya gaya ki mujhe andesha hone laga ki kahin is bare mein mujh par Quran ki koi ayat nazil na ho jaye (aur meri ummat is hukum ko pura na kar sake).”
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنِ التَّمِيمِيِّ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" أُمِرْتُ بِالسِّوَاكِ حَتَّى خَشِيتُ أَنْ يُوحَى إِلَيَّ فِيهِ".
