The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 2991
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to pray facing Jerusalem while he was in Makkah al-Mukarramah, and the Ka'bah was in front of him. And even after the Hijrah, he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) continued to pray facing Jerusalem for sixteen months. After that, he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was commanded to turn towards the Ka'bah.

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ نبی ﷺ جب تک مکہ مکرمہ میں رہے اس وقت تک بیت المقدس کی طرف رخ کر کے نماز پڑھتے رہے، اور خانہ کعبہ تو آپ کے سامنے ہوتا ہی تھا، اور ہجرت کے بعد بھی سولہ مہینے تک آپ ﷺ بیت المقدس کی طرف رخ کر کے نماز پڑھتے رہے، بعد میں آپ ﷺ کو خانہ کعبہ کی طرف پھیر دیا گیا۔
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) jab tak Makkah Mukarramah mein rahe us waqt tak Bait ul Muqaddas ki taraf rukh kar ke namaz parhte rahe, aur Khana Kaaba to aap ke samne hota hi tha, aur hijrat ke baad bhi solah mahine tak aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) Bait ul Muqaddas ki taraf rukh kar ke namaz parhte rahe, baad mein aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko Khana Kaaba ki taraf phir diya gaya.
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ" كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي وَهُوَ بِمَكَّةَ نَحْوَ بَيْتِ الْمَقْدِسِ، وَالْكَعْبَةُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ، وَبَعْدَ مَا هَاجَرَ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ سِتَّةَ عَشَرَ شَهْرًا، ثُمَّ صُرِفَ إِلَى الْكَعْبَةِ".
