The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 3015
Narrated by Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), once the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was heading towards the mosque and he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was gesturing with his hand and saying, “Whoever grants respite to someone in debt who is struggling or forgives him, Allah will protect him from the heat of Hellfire. Remember! The deeds of Paradise are difficult like a steep path, and the deeds of Hellfire are easy like a soft bow. Blessed is the person who is saved from trials. And the one who swallows his anger, nothing is more beloved to me than him swallowing his anger for the sake of Allah. Allah will fill his stomach with faith.”

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ نبی ﷺ مسجد کی طرف نکلے تو آپ ﷺ اپنے ہاتھ سے اشارہ کرتے ہوئے فرماتے جا رہے تھے کہ ”جو شخص کسی تنگدست مقروض کو مہلت دے دے، یا اسے معاف کر دے تو اللہ اسے جہنم کی گرمی سے محفوظ فرما دے گا، یاد رکھو! جنت کے اعمال ٹیلے کی طرح سخت ہیں، اور جہنم کے اعمال نرم کمان کی طرح آسان ہیں، خوش نصیب ہے وہ آدمی جو فتنوں سے محفوظ ہو، اور انسان غصہ کا جو گھونٹ پیتا ہے، مجھے اس سے زیادہ کوئی گھونٹ پسند نہیں ہے، جو شخص اللہ کی رضا کے لئے غصہ کا گھونٹ پی جاتا ہے، اللہ اس کے پیٹ کو ایمان سے بھر دے گا۔“
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki ek martaba Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) masjid ki taraf nikle to aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) apne hath se ishara karte hue farmate ja rahe the ki ”Jo shakhs kisi tangdast maqrooz ko mohlat de de, ya use maaf kar de to Allah use jahannum ki garmi se mahfooz farma de ga, yaad rakho! Jannat ke amal teele ki tarah sakht hain, aur jahannam ke amal narm kaman ki tarah aasan hain, khush naseeb hai wo aadmi jo fitno se mahfooz ho, aur insan ghusse ka jo ghoont peeta hai, mujhe us se zyada koi ghoont pasand nahi hai, jo shakhs Allah ki raza ke liye ghusse ka ghoont pee jata hai, Allah us ke pet ko imaan se bhar de ga."
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ ، حَدَّثَنَا نُوحُ بْنُ جَعْوَنَةَ السُّلَمِيُّ ، خُرَاسَانِيٌّ، عَنْ مُقَاتِلِ بْنِ حَيَّانَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ: خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ بِيَدِهِ هَكَذَا، فَأَوْمَأَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بِيَدِهِ إِلَى الْأَرْضِ:" مَنْ أَنْظَرَ مُعْسِرًا، أَوْ وَضَعَ لَهُ، وَقَاهُ اللَّهُ مِنْ فَيْحِ جَهَنَّمَ، أَلَا إِنَّ عَمَلَ الْجَنَّةِ حَزْنٌ بِرَبْوَةٍ ثَلَاثًا، أَلَا إِنَّ عَمَلَ النَّارِ سَهْلٌ بِسَهْوَةٍ وَالسَّعِيدُ مَنْ وُقِيَ الْفِتَنَ، وَمَا مِنْ جَرْعَةٍ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ جَرْعَةِ غَيْظٍ يَكْظِمُهَا عَبْدٌ، مَا كَظَمَهَا عَبْدٌ لِلَّهِ إِلَّا مَلَأَ اللَّهُ جَوْفَهُ إِيمَانًا".
