The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 3025
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once a villager came to the court of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and spoke very eloquently. Upon hearing him, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Some poetry is full of wisdom, and some speech has the effect of magic.”

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ ایک دیہاتی بارگاہ رسالت میں حاضر ہوا اور بڑی شستہ گفتگو کی، اسے سن کر رسول اللہ ﷺ نے ارشاد فرمایا: ”بعض اشعار دانائی سے بھر پور ہوتے ہیں، اور بعض بیان جادو کا سا اثر رکھتے ہیں۔“
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki ek martaba ek dehati bargah risalat mein hazir hua aur badi shusta guftgu ki, use sun kar Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne irshad farmaya: "baz ash'ar danai se bharpoor hote hain, aur baz bayan jadu ka sa asar rakhte hain."
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا سِمَاكُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ: جَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَجَعَلَ يَتَكَلَّمُ بِكَلَامٍ بَيِّنٍ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" إِنَّ مِنَ الْبَيَانِ سِحْرًا، وَإِنَّ مِنَ الشِّعْرِ حُكْمًا".
