The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 3067
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidna Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once two roasted lizards were brought to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Sayyidna Khalid bin Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) was also present there at that time. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was about to extend his hand to eat when someone mentioned that it was a lizard. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) withdrew his hand. Sayyidna Khalid bin Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) submitted: "O Messenger of Allah! Is it forbidden (Haram)?" He replied, "No, but since it is not found in the land of my people, I consider it better to abstain from it." So, Sayyidna Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him) ate it, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) kept looking at him.

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ نبی ﷺ کی خدمت میں بھنی ہوئی دو عدد گوہ پیش کی گئیں، اس وقت وہاں سیدنا خالد بن ولید رضی اللہ عنہ بھی موجود تھے، نبی ﷺ نے ابھی کھانے کے لئے ہاتھ بڑھانے کا ارادہ ہی کیا تھا کہ کسی نے بتا دیا کہ یہ گوہ ہے، نبی ﷺ نے اپنا ہاتھ کھینچ لیا، سیدنا خالد بن ولید رضی اللہ عنہ نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ ﷺ ! کیا یہ حرام ہے؟ فرمایا: ”نہیں، لیکن چونکہ یہ میری قوم کے علاقے میں نہیں ہوتی اس لئے میں اس سے بچنا ہی بہتر سمجھتا ہوں۔“ چنانچہ سیدنا خالد رضی اللہ عنہ نے اسے کھا لیا اور نبی ﷺ انہیں دیکھتے رہے۔
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki aik martaba Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki khidmat mein bhuni hui do adad ghoh pesh ki gayin, us waqt wahan Sayyidna Khalid bin Waleed (رضي الله تعالى عنه) bhi mojood thay, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne abhi khanay ke liye hath barhanay ka irada hi kiya tha ki kisi ne bata diya ki yeh ghoh hai, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne apna hath khench liya, Sayyidna Khalid bin Waleed (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne arz kiya: Ya Rasulullah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)! kya yeh haram hai? Farmaya: "Nahin, lekin kyunki yeh meri qaum ke ilaqay mein nahin hoti is liye mein is se bachna hi behtar samajhta hun." Chunacha Sayyidna Khalid (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne usay kha liya aur Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) unhen dekhte rahe.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ بْنِ سَهْلِ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ: أُتِيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِضَبَّيْنِ مَشْوِيَّيْنِ، وَعِنْدَهُ خَالِدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، فَأَهْوَى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَدَهُ لِيَأْكُلَ، فَقِيلَ لَهُ إِنَّهُ ضَبٌّ، فَأَمْسَكَ يَدَهُ، فَقَالَ لَهُ خَالِدٌ: أَحَرَامٌ هُوَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ؟ قَالَ:" لَا، وَلَكِنَّهُ لَا يَكُونُ بِأَرْضِ قَوْمِي، فَأَجِدُنِي أَعَافُهُ". فَأَكَلَ خَالِدٌ، وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِ.
