The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 3072
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once the people of Quraysh went to a female soothsayer and said, "Tell us, who among us is most similar to this Ibrahim (Abraham)?" She said, "Spread a sheet on this ground and walk over it, then I will tell you." So they spread a sheet on it and walked over it. The soothsayer carefully examined the footprints of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "This one among you is most similar to Abraham (peace be upon him)." Twenty years or close to twenty years after this incident, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was commissioned (as a prophet).

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ قریش کے لوگ ایک کاہن عورت کے پاس گئے اور کہنے لگے کہ یہ بتائیے، ہم میں سے اس مقام ابراہیم والے کے مشابہہ سب سے زیادہ کون ہے؟ اس نے کہا کہ تم اس زمین پر ایک چادر بچھاؤ اور اس پر چلو تو میں تمہیں بتاؤں؟ چنانچہ انہوں نے اس پر چادر بچھائی اور اس پر سے چل کر گئے، اس کاہنہ نے نبی ﷺ کے نشانات قدم کو غور سے دیکھا اور کہنے لگی کہ یہ تم میں سے سب سے زیادہ حضرت ابراہیم علیہ السلام کے مشابہہ ہے، اس واقعے کے بیس سال یا بیس سال کے قریب گزرنے کے بعد نبی ﷺ کو مبعوث کر دیا گیا۔
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki ek martaba Quresh ke log ek kahin aurat ke pass gaye aur kehne lage ki yeh bataiye, hum mein se is maqam Ibrahim wale ke mushabih sab se zyada kaun hai? Uss ne kaha ki tum iss zameen par ek chadar bichhao aur iss par chalo to main tumhen bataun? Chunancha unhon ne uss par chadar bichhai aur uss par se chal kar gaye, iss kahina ne Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke nishanat qadam ko gौर se dekha aur kehne lagi ki yeh tum mein se sab se zyada Hazrat Ibrahim Alaihissalam ke mushabih hai, iss waqeye ke bees saal ya bees saal ke qareeb guzarne ke baad Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko mabus kar diya gaya.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ قُرَيْشًا أَتَوْا كَاهِنَةً، فَقَالُوا لَهَا: أَخْبِرِينَا بِأَقْرَبِنَا شَبَهًا بِصَاحِبِ هَذَا الْمَقَامِ؟ فَقَالَتْ: إِنْ أَنْتُمْ جَرَرْتُمْ كِسَاءً عَلَى هَذِهِ السَّهْلَةِ، ثُمَّ مَشَيْتُمْ عَلَيْهَا أَنْبَأْتُكُمْ. فَجَرُّوا، ثُمَّ مَشَى النَّاسُ عَلَيْهَا،" فَأَبْصَرَتْ أَثَرَ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَتْ: هَذَا أَقْرَبُكُمْ شَبَهًا بِهِ. فَمَكَثُوا بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ عِشْرِينَ سَنَةً، أَوْ قَرِيبًا مِنْ عِشْرِينَ سَنَةً، أَوْ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ، ثُمَّ بُعِثَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ".
