The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 3088
Abu Al-Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that a person asked Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) this question: If a slave gives two divorces to his wife, then frees her and wants to marry her, can he do so or not? Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) replied: He can. The man asked, "From whom are you narrating this?" He said, "The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gave this verdict." Abdullah narrates from his father Imam Ahmad (may Allah have mercy on him) that someone asked Ma'mar: "O Abu 'Urouh! Who is this Abu Al-Hasan? He has lifted a very big rock (meaning he has taken on a difficult task)."

ابوالحسن رحمہ اللہ کہتے ہیں کہ کسی شخص نے سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے یہ مسئلہ پوچھا کہ اگر کوئی غلام اپنی بیوی کو دو طلاقیں دے دے، پھر اسے آزاد کر کے اس سے نکاح کرنا چاہے تو کر سکتا ہے یا نہیں؟ سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے فرمایا: کر سکتا ہے، اس نے پوچھا کہ یہ بات آپ کس کی طرف سے نقل کر رہے ہیں؟ فرمایا: نبی ﷺ نے یہی فتوی دیا ہے۔ عبداللہ اپنے والد امام احمد رحمہ اللہ سے نقل کرتے ہیں کہ کسی نے معمر سے پوچھا: اے ابوعروہ! یہ ابوالحسن کون ہے؟ اس نے تو بہت بڑی چٹان اٹھائی ہے۔
Abu Alhasan Rehmatullah Alaih Kehte Hain Ki Kisi Shakhs Ne Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a Se Ye Masla Pucha Ki Agar Koi Gulam Apni Biwi Ko Do Talaqen De De, Phir Use Azad Kar Ke Us Se Nikah Karna Chahe To Kar Sakta Hai Ya Nahin? Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a Ne Farmaya: Kar Sakta Hai, Usne Pucha Ki Ye Baat Aap Kis Ki Taraf Se Naqal Kar Rahe Hain? Farmaya: Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) Ne Yahi Fatwa Diya Hai. Abdullah Apne Walid Imam Ahmad Rehmatullah Alaih Se Naqal Karte Hain Ki Kisi Ne Muammar Se Pucha: Aye Abu Aroo! Ye Abu Alhasan Kaun Hai? Usne To Bahut Badi Chattan Uthai Hai.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ مُعَتِّبٍ ، عَنْ مَوْلَى بَنِي نَوْفَلٍ يَعْنِي أَبَا الْحَسَنِ ، قَالَ:" سُئِلَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ عَنْ عَبْدٍ طَلَّقَ امْرَأَتَهُ بِطَلْقَتَيْنِ، ثُمَّ عَتَقَا، أَيَتَزَوَّجُهَا؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ. قِيلَ: عَمَّنْ؟ قَالَ: أَفْتَى بِذَلِكَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ". قال عبد الله: قال أبي: قِيلَ لِمَعْمَرٍ يَا أَبَا عُرْوَةَ، مَنْ أَبُو حَسَنٍ هَذَا؟ لَقَدْ تَحَمَّلَ صَخْرَةً عَظِيمَةً!!.
