The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 3121
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once he said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) performed Hajj Tamattu'. 'Urwah ibn Zubair (may Allah have mercy on him) said: But the senior companions used to forbid it? Sayyiduna Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) asked: What is 'Urwah saying? The people said: He is saying that the senior companions forbade it. Sayyiduna Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: It seems like these people are destined for destruction. I am saying that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) did it, and they are saying that Sayyiduna Abu Bakr and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) forbade it.

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ انہوں نے فرمایا: نبی ﷺ نے حج تمتع کیا ہے، عروہ بن زبیر رحمہ اللہ کہنے لگے کہ حضرات شیخین تو اس سے منع کرتے رہے ہیں؟ سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے پوچھا: عروہ کیا کہہ رہے ہیں؟ لوگوں نے بتایا کہ وہ کہہ رہے ہیں: حضرات شیخین نے تو اس سے منع فرمایا ہے؟ سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے فرمایا: لگتا ہے کہ یہ لوگ ہلاک ہو کر رہیں گے، میں کہہ رہا ہوں کہ نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا، اور یہ کہہ رہے ہیں کہ سیدنا ابوبکر و سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہما نے منع کیا۔
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki ek martaba unhon ne farmaya: Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne Hajj Tamattu kiya hai, Urwah bin Zubair Rahmatullah Alaih kehne lage ki hazrat Shaykeen to is se mana karte rahe hain? Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a ne poocha: Urwah kya keh rahe hain? Logon ne bataya ki woh keh rahe hain: Hazrat Shaykeen ne to is se mana farmaya hai? Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a ne farmaya: Lagta hai ki ye log halaak ho kar rahen ge, main keh raha hun ki Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya, aur ye keh rahe hain ki Sayyidna Abubakar o Sayyidna Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a ne mana kiya.
حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنِ الْفُضَيْلِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، قَالَ: أُرَاهُ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ" تَمَتَّعَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ". فَقَالَ: عُرْوَةُ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ نَهَى أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ عَنِ الْمُتْعَةِ، فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ: مَا يَقُولُ عُرَيَّةُ؟ قَالَ: يَقُولُ: نَهَى أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ عَنِ الْمُتْعَةِ. فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ: أُرَاهُمْ سَيَهْلِكُونَ! أَقُولُ: قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَيَقُولُ: نَهَى أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ.
