The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 3323
Narrated by Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), that once the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) combined the Zuhr and Asr prayers, and the Maghrib and Isha' prayers in Madinah. At that time, there was neither fear nor rain. Someone asked Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) what was the purpose of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in doing so? He replied that the purpose of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was that your Ummah should not be in any difficulty.

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ نبی ﷺ نے مدینہ منورہ میں ظہر اور عصر کو اور مغرب اور عشا کو جمع فرمایا، اس وقت نہ کوئی خوف تھا اور نہ ہی بارش، کسی نے سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے پوچھا کہ اس سے نبی ﷺ کا مقصد کیا تھا؟ انہوں نے جواب دیا کہ آپ ﷺ کا مقصد یہ تھا کہ آپ کی امت تنگی میں نہ رہے۔
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki ek martaba Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne Madina Munawwara mein Zuhr aur Asr ko aur Maghrib aur Isha ko jama farmaya, iss waqt na koi khauf tha aur na hi barish, kisi ne Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se poocha ki iss se Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ka maqsad kya tha? Unhon ne jawab diya ki aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ka maqsad ye tha ki aap ki ummat tangi mein na rahe.
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ ، عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ:" جَمَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْنَ الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ، وَالْمَغْرِبِ وَالْعِشَاءِ فِي الْمَدِينَةِ، مِنْ غَيْرِ خَوْفٍ وَلَا مَطَرٍ". قُلْتُ لِابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ: لِمَ فَعَلَ ذَلِكَ؟ قَالَ: كَيْ لَا يُحْرِجَ أُمَّتَهُ.
