The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 3408
Abu Majlaz said that he once asked Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) about the Witr prayer. He said, "I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say, 'Witr is one rak'ah at the end of the night.'" Then I asked Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) about it, and he gave the same answer.

ابومجلز کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے ایک مرتبہ سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے وتر کے بارے پوچھا تو انہوں نے فرمایا کہ میں نے نبی ﷺ کو یہ فرماتے ہوئے سنا ہے کہ ”وتر کی ایک رکعت ہوتی ہے رات کے آخری حصے میں“، پھر میں نے سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے اس کے متعلق پوچھا تو انہوں نے بھی یہی جواب دیا۔
AbuMajlaz kehty hain keh maine ek martaba Syedna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se witr k bary mein poocha to unhon ne farmaya keh maine Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko yeh farmate hue suna hai keh "Witr ki ek rakat hoti hai raat k akhri hisse mein", phir maine Syedna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se is k mutalliq poocha to unhon ne bhi yehi jawab diya.
حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ. وحَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، قَالَ: عَفَّانُ: أَنْبَأَنَا قَتَادَةُ عَنْ أَبِي مِجْلَزٍ ، قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ عَنِ الْوَتْرِ، فَقَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، يَقُولُ:" رَكْعَةٌ مِنْ آخِرِ اللَّيْلِ"، قَالَ: وَسَأَلْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَبَّاسٍ ، فَقَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ:" رَكْعَةٌ مِنْ آخِرِ اللَّيْلِ".
