The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 3420
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) that a woman came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah! My mother has passed away, and she had one month of fasting (Ramadan) due on her. Can I fast on her behalf?" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Tell me, if your mother had a debt, would you pay it off or not?" She said: "Of course." He said: "Then the debt of Allah is more deserving of being paid off."

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ ایک عورت نبی ﷺ کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوئی اور کہنے لگی: یار رسول اللہ ﷺ ! میری والدہ کا انتقال ہو گیا ہے، ان کے ذمے ایک مہینے کے روزے تھے، کیا میں ان کی قضا کر سکتی ہوں؟ نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”یہ بتاؤ کہ اگر تمہاری والدہ پر قرض ہوتا تو کیا تم اسے ادا کرتیں یا نہیں؟“ اس نے کہا: کیوں نہیں، فرمایا: ”پھر اللہ کا قرض تو ادائیگی کا زیادہ مستحق ہے۔“
Syedna Ibn Abbas RA se marvi hai keh ek aurat Nabi SAW ki khidmat mein hazir hui aur kehne lagi: Ya Rasul Allah SAW! meri walida ka inteqal ho gaya hai, un ke zimme ek mahine ke roze thay, kya main un ki qaza kar sakti hun? Nabi SAW ne farmaya: "Yeh batao keh agar tumhari walida per qarz hota to kya tum usay ada karteen ya nahin?" us ne kaha: kyun nahin, farmaya: "Phir Allah ka qarz to adaaigi ka zyada mustahiq hai."
حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ ، عَنْ مُسْلِمٍ الْبَطِينِ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: أَتَتْهُ امْرَأَةٌ، فَقَالَتْ: إِنَّ أُمِّي مَاتَتْ، وَعَلَيْهَا صَوْمُ شَهْرِ، فَأَقْضِيهِ عَنْهَا؟ قَالَ:" أَرَأَيْتَكِ لَوْ كَانَ عَلَيْهَا دَيْنٌ، كُنْتِ تَقْضِينَهُ؟" قَالَتْ: نَعَمْ. قَالَ:" فَدَيْنُ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ أَحَقُّ أَنْ يُقْضَى".
