The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 3444
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) passed by some people who were practicing archery. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "O Children of Ismail! Practice archery, for your father, Prophet Ismail (peace be upon him), was also an archer."

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ نبی ﷺ کا گزر چند لوگوں پر ہوا جو تیر اندازی کی مشق کر رہے تھے، نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”بنو اسماعیل! تیر اندازی کیا کرو، کیونکہ تمہارے باپ حضرت اسماعیل علیہ السلام بھی تیر انداز تھے۔“
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki ek martaba Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ka guzar chand logon par hua jo teer andazi ki mashq kar rahe thay, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: ”Bani Ismail! teer andazi kya karo, kyunki tumhare baap Hazrat Ismail Alaihissalam bhi teer andaz thay.“
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَنْبَأَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسِ ، قَالَ: مَرَّ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِنَفَرٍ يَرْمُونَ، فَقَالَ:" رَمْيًا بَنِي إِسْمَاعِيلَ، فَإِنَّ أَبَاكُمْ كَانَ رَامِيًا".
