The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 3486
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the flag of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to be with Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Muhajireen (emigrants) and with Sayyiduna Saad bin Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Ansar (helpers). And when the battle would intensify, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would be under the flag of the Ansar.

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ نبی ﷺ کا جھنڈا مہاجرین کی طرف سے سیدنا علی رضی اللہ عنہ کے پاس ہوتا تھا اور انصار کی طرف سے سیدنا سعد بن عبادہ رضی اللہ عنہ کے پاس، اور جب جنگ زوروں پر ہوتی تو نبی ﷺ انصار کے جھنڈے کے نیچے ہوتے تھے۔
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas Raziallahu Anhuma se marvi hai ki Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ka jhanda muhajireen ki taraf se Sayyidna Ali Raziallahu Anhu ke paas hota tha aur ansar ki taraf se Sayyidna Saad bin Ubadah Raziallahu Anhu ke paas, aur jab jang zoro'n par hoti to Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ansar ke jhande ke neeche hote the.
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ الْجَزَرِيِّ ، عَنْ مِقْسَمٍ ، قَالَ: لَا أَعْلَمُهُ إِلَّا عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ " أَنَّ رَايَةَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَعَ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، وَرَايَةَ الْأَنْصَارِ مَعَ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ، وَكَانَ إِذَا اسْتَحَرَّ الْقَتْلُ، كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِمَّا يَكُونَ تَحْتَ رَايَةِ الْأَنْصَارِ".
