The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 3518
Abu Hazim (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that once a man asked Abdullah ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) about the earthen pot in which Nabidh is made. He replied that Allah and His Messenger have prohibited it. The man went to Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) and mentioned to him the reply of Ibn Umar. Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said that he has spoken the truth. The man asked Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) then what kind of pot did the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prohibit? He said: Every pot which is made of baked clay.

ابوحاضر رحمہ اللہ کہتے ہیں کہ ایک مرتبہ کسی شخص نے سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے اس مٹکے متعلق سوال کیا جس میں نبیذ بنائی جاتی ہے؟ انہوں نے فرمایا کہ اللہ اور اس کے رسول نے اس سے منع کیا ہے، وہ آدمی سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کے پاس آ گیا اور ان سے سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما کا جواب بھی ذکر کر دیا، سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے فرمایا کہ انہوں نے سچ کہا، اس آدمی نے سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے پوچھا کہ نبی ﷺ نے کس قسم کے مٹکے کے استعمال سے منع فرمایا ہے؟ فرمایا: ہر وہ مٹکا جو پکی مٹی سے بنایا جائے۔
Abuhazir rehmatullah kehte hain keh aik martaba kisi shakhs ne sayyidna ibne umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se iss mitke mutalliq sawal kiya jiss mein nabiz banayi jati hai? Unhon ne farmaya keh Allah aur uss ke rasool ne iss se mana kiya hai, woh aadmi sayyidna ibne abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a ke pass aa gaya aur unse sayyidna ibne umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a ka jawab bhi zikar kar diya, sayyidna ibne abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a ne farmaya keh unhon ne sach kaha, iss aadmi ne sayyidna ibne abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se pucha keh nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne kiss qisam ke mitke ke istemal se mana farmaya hai? Farmaya: Har woh mitka jo paki mitti se banaya jaye.
حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو حَاضِرٍ ، قَالَ سُئِلَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ عَنِ الْجَرِّ يُنْبَذُ فِيهِ؟ فَقَالَ: نَهَى اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ عَنْهُ. فَانْطَلَقَ الرَّجُلُ إِلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، فَذَكَرَ لَهُ مَا، قَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ، فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ : صَدَقَ. قَالَ الرَّجُلُ لِابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَيُّ جَرٍّ نَهَى عَنْهُ؟، قَالَ:" كُلُّ شَيْءٍ يُصْنَعُ مِنْ مَدَرٍ".
