Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 4012
Abdullah bin Ma'qil narrated that once, his father was in the company of Abdullah bin Masood, may Allah be pleased with him. He heard Ibn Masood saying, "I heard the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, say, 'Regret is repentance.'"

عبداللہ بن معقل کہتے ہیں کہ ایک مرتبہ سیدنا ابن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہ کی خدمت میں میرے والد حاضر تھے، انہوں نے سیدنا ابن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہ کو یہ فرماتے ہوئے سنا کہ میں نے خود نبی ﷺ کو یہ فرماتے ہوئے سنا ہے کہ ”ندامت بھی توبہ ہے۔“
Abdullah bin Maqal kehte hain keh aik martaba Sayyidna Ibn Masood (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ki khidmat mein mere walid hazir thay, unhon ne Sayyidna Ibn Masood (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ko ye farmate huye suna keh maine khud Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko ye farmate huye suna hai keh "Nadamat bhi toba hai"
حَدَّثَنَا كَثِيرُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا فُرَاتٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ ، عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ الْجَرَّاحِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَعْقِلٍ ، قَالَ: كَانَ أَبِي عِنْدَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ فَسَمِعَهُ يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ:" النَّدَمُ تَوْبَةٌ".
