Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 4548
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) heard Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) swearing by his father. So he said, “Verily Allah forbids you from swearing by your forefathers. So when any one of you intends to swear an oath, then he should swear by Allah or else remain silent." Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said that after that, I never intentionally swore such an oath, nor did I ever repeat it.

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ نبی کریم ﷺ نے سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ کو اپنے باپ کی قسم کھاتے ہوئے سنا تو فرمایا کہ اللہ تعالیٰ تمہیں اپنے آباؤ اجداد کے نام کی قسمیں کھانے سے روکتا ہے اس لئے جب تم میں سے کوئی شخص قسم کھانا چاہئے تو اللہ کے نام کی قسم کھائے ورنہ خاموش رہے۔ سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ فرماتے ہیں کہ اس کے بعد میں نے جان بوجھ کر یا نقل کرتے ہوئے بھی ایسی قسم نہیں کھائی۔
Sayyidna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki ek martaba Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne Sayyidna Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ko apne baap ki qasam khate huye suna to farmaya ki Allah Taala tumhen apne abao ajdad ke naam ki qasmen khane se rokta hai is liye jab tum mein se koi shakhs qasam khana chahiye to Allah ke naam ki qasam khaye warna khamosh rahe. Sayyidna Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) farmate hain ki uske baad maine jaan boojh kar ya naqal karte huye bhi aisi qasam nahin khai.
حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، سَمِعَ سَالِمًا ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَمِعَ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، وَهُوَ يَقُولُ: وَأَبِي وَأَبِي، فَقَالَ:" إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَنْهَاكُمْ أَنْ تَحْلِفُوا بِآبَائِكُمْ"، قَالَ عُمَرُ: فَوَاللَّهِ، فَوَاللَّهِ مَا حَلَفْتُ بِهَا ذَاكِرًا وَلَا آثِرًا.
