Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 4568
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidina Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that once, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went to offer prayer in the mosque of Banu Amr bin Awf, i.e., Masjid Quba. Some Ansar companions (may Allah be pleased with them) were present there to greet the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Among them was Sayyidina Suhayb (may Allah be pleased with him). I asked Sayyidina Suhayb (may Allah be pleased with him), "How did the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to respond when he was greeted with Salam?" He said, "He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to gesture with his hand." Sufian said, "I told a man to ask Sayyidina Zaid bin Aslam (may Allah have mercy on him) whether he had heard this narration directly from Sayyidina Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). I was overcome with awe and couldn't ask him myself." So that man asked him, "O Abu Usama! Did you hear this narration directly from Sayyidina Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him)?" He replied, "I have seen him and have also conversed with him."

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ نبی کریم ﷺ بنو عمرو بن عوف کی مسجد یعنی مسجد قباء میں نماز پڑھنے کی لئے تشریف لے گئے وہاں کچھ انصاری صحابہ نبی کریم ﷺ کو سلام کر نے کے لئے حاضر ہوئے ان کے ساتھ سیدنا صہیب رضی اللہ عنہ بھی تھے، میں نے سیدنا صہیب رضی اللہ عنہ سے پوچھا کہ نبی کریم ﷺ کو جب سلام کیا جاتا ہے تو آپ نبی کریم ﷺ کس طرح جواب دیتے تھے؟ فرمایا کہ ہاتھ سے اشارہ کر دیتے تھے۔ سفیان کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے ایک آدمی سے کہا سیدنا زید بن اسلم رحمہ اللہ سے پوچھو کہ یہ روایت آپ نے سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے خود سنی ہے؟ مجھے خود سوال کر نے میں ان کا رعب حائل ہو گیا چنانچہ اس آدمی نے ان سے پوچھا کہ اے ابواسامہ! کیا آپ نے یہ روایت سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے خود سنی ہے؟ انہوں نے جواب دیا کہ میں نے انہیں دیکھا بھی ہے اور ان سے بات چیت بھی کی ہے۔
Sayyidna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki ek martaba Nabi Karim (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) Banu Amr bin Auf ki masjid yani Masjid Quba mein namaz padhne ke liye tashreef le gaye wahan kuch Ansaari Sahaba Nabi Karim (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko salaam karne ke liye hazir hue un ke sath Sayyidna Suhaib (رضي الله تعالى عنه) bhi the, maine Sayyidna Suhaib (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se pucha ki Nabi Karim (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko jab salaam kiya jata hai to aap Nabi Karim (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) kis tarah jawab dete the? Farmaya ki hath se ishara kar dete the. Sufian kahte hain ki maine ek aadmi se kaha Sayyidna Zaid bin Aslam Rahmatullah Alaih se pucho ki ye riwayat aap ne Sayyidna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se khud suni hai? Mujhe khud sawal karne mein un ka raab ha'il ho gaya chunancha us aadmi ne un se pucha ki aye Abu Aasimah! kya aap ne ye riwayat Sayyidna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se khud suni hai? Unhon ne jawab diya ki maine unhen dekha bhi hai aur un se baat cheet bhi ki hai.
حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ " دَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَسْجِدَ بَنِي عَمْرِو بْنِ عَوْفٍ، مَسْجِدَ قُبَاءَ يُصَلِّي فِيهِ، فَدَخَلَتْ عَلَيْهِ رِجَالُ الْأَنْصَارِ يُسَلِّمُونَ عَلَيْهِ، وَدَخَلَ مَعَهُ صُهَيْبٌ، فَسَأَلْتُ صُهَيْبًا: كَيْفَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَصْنَعُ إِذَا سُلِّمَ عَلَيْهِ؟ قَالَ: يُشِيرُ بِيَدِهِ، قَالَ سُفْيَانُ: قُلْتُ لِرَجُلٍ: سَلْ زَيْدًا: أَسَمِعْتَهُ مِنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ؟ وَهِبْتُ أَنَا أَنْ أَسْأَلَهُ، فَقَالَ: يَا أَبَا أُسَامَةَ، سَمِعْتَهُ مِنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ؟ قَالَ: أَمَّا أَنَا، فَقَدْ رَأَيْتُهُ فَكَلَّمْتُهُ".
