Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 4661
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he was presented before the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) at the time of the Battle of Uhud, when he was fourteen years old. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) did not permit him to participate in the battle. Then, on the day of the Battle of the Trench, when he was fifteen years old, he presented himself again, and the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) permitted him.

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ انہیں غزوہ احد کے موقع پر نبی کریم ﷺ کے سامنے پیش کیا گیا اس وقت ان کی عمر چودہ سال تھی، نبی کریم ﷺ نے انہیں جنگ میں شریک ہونے کی اجازت نہیں دی، پھر غزوہ خندق کے دن دوبارہ پیش ہوئے تو وہ پندرہ سال کے ہو چکے تھے، اس لئے نبی کریم ﷺ نے انہیں اجازت دے دی۔
Sayyidna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki unhen Ghazwa Uhud ke mauqe par Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke samne pesh kiya gaya us waqt un ki umar chaudah saal thi, Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne unhen jang mein shareek hone ki ijazat nahin di, phir Ghazwa Khandaq ke din dobara pesh hue to woh pandrah saal ke ho chuke thay, is liye Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne unhen ijazat de di.
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، أَخْبَرَنِي نَافِعٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ" عَرَضَهُ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ، وَهُوَ ابْنُ أَرْبَعَ عَشْرَةَ فَلَمْ يُجِزْهُ، ثُمَّ عَرَضَهُ يَوْمَ الْخَنْدَقِ، وَهُوَ ابْنُ خَمْسَ عَشْرَةَ، فَأَجَازَهُ".
