Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 4667
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) that once the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) heard Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) swearing by his father. So he said: Allah Almighty forbids you from swearing by your forefathers. So when one of you intends to swear an oath, he should swear by Allah, otherwise remain silent.

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ نبی کریم ﷺ نے سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ کو اپنے باپ کی قسم کھاتے ہوئے سنا تو فرمایا کہ اللہ تعالیٰ تمہیں اپنے آباؤ اجداد کے نام کی قسمیں کھانے سے روکتا ہے، اس لئے جب تم میں سے کوئی شخص قسم کھانا چاہئے تو اللہ کے نام کی قسم کھائے ورنہ خاموش رہے۔
Sayyeda Ibn e Umar RA se marvi hai keh aik martaba Nabi Kareem SAW ne Sayyeda Umar RA ko apne baap ki qasam khate hue suna to farmaya keh Allah Ta'ala tumhein apne abaao ajdad ke naam ki qasmein khane se rokta hai, is liye jab tum mein se koi shakhs qasam khana chahye to Allah ke naam ki qasam khaye warna khamosh rahe.
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، أَخْبَرَنِي نَافِعٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَدْرَكَ عُمَرَ وَهُوَ فِي رَكْبٍ وَهُوَ يَحْلِفُ بِأَبِيهِ، فَقَالَ:" لَا تَحْلِفُوا بِآبَائِكُمْ، لِيَحْلِفْ حَالِفٌ بِاللَّهِ أَوْ لِيَسْكُتْ".
