Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 4683
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had given permission to the Mothers of the Believers for a width of one pillow [span] for their lower garment [hem]. They requested him to increase it, so the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) added another pillow [span]. The Mothers of the Believers then made it into a yard. Afterwards, they would send us cloth, and we would measure out one yard for them.

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ امہات المؤمنین کو نبی کریم ﷺ نے ایک بالشت کے برابر دامن کی اجازت عطاء فرمائی انہوں نے اس میں اضافے کی درخواست کی، تو نبی کریم ﷺ نے ایک بالشت کا مزید اضافہ کر دیا اور امہات المؤمنین نے اسے ایک گز بنا لیا، پھر وہ ہمارے پاس کپڑا بھیجتی تھیں تو ہم انہیں ایک گز ناپ کر دے دیتے تھے۔
Sayyidna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki ummahaatul momineen ko Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne ek balisht ke barabar daman ki ijazat ata farmaee. Unhon ne is mein izafay ki darkhwast ki, to Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne ek balisht ka mazeed izafa kar diya aur ummahaatul momineen ne ise ek gaz bana liya, phir woh humare pass kapda bhejti thin to hum unhen ek gaz naap kar de dete the.
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، حَدَّثَنِي زَيْدٌ الْعَمِّيُّ ، عَنْ أَبِي الصِّدِّيقِ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ:" رَخَّصَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِأُمَّهَاتِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ فِي الذَّيْلِ شِبْرًا، فَاسْتَزَدْنَهُ، فَزَادَهُنَّ شِبْرًا آخَرَ، فَجَعَلْنَهُ ذِرَاعًا"، فَكُنَّ يُرْسِلْنَ إِلَيْنَا نَذْرَعُ لَهُنَّ ذِرَاعًا.
