Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 4688
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying: "Let not the villagers dominate you in your prayer. Remember, its name is Isha prayer, at this time they milk their camels." So they used to call the Isha prayer "Utma" (darkness).

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ نبی کریم ﷺ کو یہ فرماتے ہوئے سنا ہے کہ دیہاتی لوگ تمہاری نماز کے نام پر غالب نہ آ جائیں، یاد رکھو، اس کا نام نماز عشاء ہے، اس وقت یہ اپنے اونٹوں کا دودھ دوہتے ہیں اس مناسبت سے عشاء کی نماز کو ”عتمہ“ کہہ دیتے ہیں۔
Sayyidna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko ye farmate huye suna hai ki dehati log tumhari namaz ke naam par ghalib na aa jayen, yaad rakho, iska naam namaz isha hai, is waqt ye apne oonton ka doodh dohte hain is munasibat se isha ki namaz ko "utma" keh dete hain.
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي لَبِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم قَالَ:" لَا يَغْلِبَنَّكُمْ الْأَعْرَابُ عَلَى اسْمِ صَلَاتِكُمْ، فَإِنَّهَا الْعِشَاءُ، إِنَّمَا يَدْعُونَهَا الْعَتَمَةَ، لِإِعْتَامِهِمْ بِالْإِبِلِ لِحِلَابِهَا".
