Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 4773
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidina Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) permitted women to lengthen their garments by a handspan. They said, "But then our feet will become visible." The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied, "Do not increase it beyond a handspan (that much is permissible)."

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے خواتین کو اس بات کی اجازت دی ہے کہ وہ ایک بالشت کپڑا اونچا کر لیا کریں انہوں نے عرض کیا کہ اس طرح تو ہمارے پاؤں نظر آنے لگیں گے؟ نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”ایک بالشت پر اضافہ نہ کرنا (اتنی مقدارمعاف ہے)۔“
Sayyidna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki Rasulullah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne khawateen ko is baat ki ijazat di hai ki woh ek balisht kapra uncha kar liya karen, unhon ne arz kiya ki is tarah to hamare paon nazar aane lagenge? Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: "Ek balisht par izapha na karna (itni miqdar maaf hai)"
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْعُمَرِيُّ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَخَّصَ لِلنِّسَاءِ أَنْ يُرْخِينَ شِبْرًا، فَقُلْنَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، إِذَنْ تَنْكَشِفَ أَقْدَامُنَا؟ فَقَالَ:" ذِرَاعًا، وَلَا تَزِدْنَ عَلَيْهِ".
