Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 4796
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would command us to shorten the prayer and he himself, while leading us in prayer, would suffice with (a few verses of) Surah As-Saffat.

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ نبی کریم ﷺ ہمیں مختصر نماز پڑھانے کا حکم دیتے تھے اور خود بھی نبی کریم ﷺ ہماری امامت کرتے ہوئے سورت صفّٰت (کی چند آیات) پر اکتفاء فرماتے تھے۔
Sayyidna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) hamen mukhtasar namaz parhane ka hukm dete thay aur khud bhi Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) hamari imamat karte huye Surah Saffat (ki chand ayat) par iktifa farmate thay.
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ ابْنِ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ ، عَنْ خَالِهِ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ" يَأْمُرُنَا بِالتَّخْفِيفِ، وَإِنْ كَانَ لَيَؤُمُّنَا بِالصَّافَّاتِ".
