Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 4798
Narrated by Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Islam is built upon five pillars: Testifying that there is no god but Allah, establishing prayer, paying Zakat, performing Hajj to the Ka'bah, and fasting in Ramadan." A man asked: What about Jihad in the way of Allah? Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) replied: Jihad is a good deed, but the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) mentioned these things to us on this occasion.

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”اسلام کی بنیاد پانچ چیزوں پر ہے، اس بات کی گواہی دینا کہ اللہ کے علاوہ کوئی معبود نہیں، نماز قائم کرنا، زکوٰۃ ادا کرنا، بیت اللہ کا حج کرنا اور رمضان کے روزے رکھنا۔“ ایک آدمی نے پوچھا: جہاد فی سبیل اللہ؟ سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما نے فرمایا: جہاد ایک اچھی چیز ہے لیکن اس موقع پر نبی کریم ﷺ نے ہم سے یہی چیزیں بیان فرمائی تھیں۔
Sayyidna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: “Islam ki bunyad panch cheezon per hai, is baat ki gawahi dena ki Allah ke ilawa koi mabood nahi, namaz qaim karna, zakat ada karna, Baitullah ka Hajj karna aur Ramadan ke roze rakhna.” Ek aadmi ne poocha: Jihad fi sabeelillah? Sayyidna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a ne farmaya: Jihad ek achhi cheez hai lekin is mauqa per Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne hum se yahi cheezen bayan farmayi thin.
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ بِشْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ:" بُنِيَ الْإِسْلَامُ عَلَى خَمْسٍ: شَهَادَةِ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ، وَإِقَامِ الصَّلَاةِ، وَإِيتَاءِ الزَّكَاةِ، وَحَجِّ الْبَيْتِ، وَصَوْمِ رَمَضَانَ"، قَالَ: فَقَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ: وَالْجِهَادُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ: الْجِهَادُ حَسَنٌ، هَكَذَا حَدَّثَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم.
