Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 4807
Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that when the husband of Hafsa (may Allah be pleased with her), Khunays bin Hudhafa (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away, Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) went to Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) and proposed marriage to him for his daughter. Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) replied, "I do not have any desire for women at the moment, however, I will think about it." After that, Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) went to Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and proposed the same to him, but he did not respond. This made Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) angrier with Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) than with Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him). A few days later, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) sent a marriage proposal for himself, and so Hafsa (may Allah be pleased with her) was married to the Prophet (peace be upon him). Coincidentally, one day, Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) met Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), and said, "I proposed to Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) for the marriage of my daughter, and he gave me a clear answer, but when I proposed to you, you remained silent, which is why I was more upset with you than Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him)." Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) replied, "The Prophet (peace be upon him) had mentioned Hafsa (may Allah be pleased with her) to me, and I did not want to disclose the secret of the Prophet (peace be upon him). If the Prophet (peace be upon him) had left her, I would have definitely married her."

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما فرماتے ہیں کہ جب سیدہ حفصہ کے شوہر سیدنا خنیس بن حذافہ رضی اللہ عنہ فوت ہو گئے تو سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ، سیدنا عثمان رضی اللہ عنہ سے ملے اور ان کے سامنے اپنی بیٹی سے نکاح کی پیشکش رکھی انہوں نے کہا کہ مجھے عورتوں کی طرف کوئی رغبت نہیں ہے البتہ میں سوچوں گا، اس کے بعد وہ سیدنا ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ سے ملے اور ان سے بھی یہی کہا: لیکن انہوں نے مجھے جواب نہ دیا۔ سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ کو ان پر سیدنا عثمان رضی اللہ عنہ کی نسبت بہت غصہ آیا۔ چند دن گزرنے کے بعد نبی کریم ﷺ نے اپنے لئے پیغام نکاح بھیج دیا، چنانچہ انہوں نے سیدہ حفصہ رضی اللہ عنہا کا نکاح نبی کریم ﷺ سے کر دیا۔ اتفاقاً ایک مرتبہ سیدنا ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ سے ملاقات ہوئی تو وہ فرمانے لگے، میں نے سیدنا عثمان رضی اللہ عنہ سے اپنی بیٹی کے نکاح کی پیشکش کی تو انہوں نے صاف جواب دے دیا لیکن جب میں نے آپ کے سامنے یہ پیشکش کی تو آپ خاموش رہے جس کی بناء پر مجھے سیدنا عثمان رضی اللہ عنہ سے زیادہ آپ پر غصہ آیا۔ سیدنا ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ نے فرمایا کہ نبی کریم ﷺ نے سیدہ حفصہ رضی اللہ عنہ کا ذکر فرمایا تھا میں نبی ﷺ کا راز فاش نہیں کرنا چاہتا تھا، اگر نبی کریم ﷺ انہیں چھوڑ دیتے تو میں ضرور ان سے نکاح کر لیتا۔
Sayyeda Ibne Umar razi Allah anhuma farmate hain ke jab Sayyeda Hafsa ke shohar Sayyedna Khunnas bin Hazafa razi Allah anhu wafaat ho gaye to Sayyedna Umar razi Allah anhu, Sayyedna Usman razi Allah anhu se mile aur unke samne apni beti se nikah ki peshkash rakhi, unhon ne kaha ke mujhe auraton ki taraf koi raghbat nahi hai albatta mein sochun ga, iske baad wo Sayyedna Abubakar razi Allah anhu se mile aur unse bhi yehi kaha: lekin unhon ne mujhe jawab na diya. Sayyedna Umar razi Allah anhu ko un per Sayyedna Usman razi Allah anhu ki nisbat bahut ghussa aya. Chand din guzarne ke baad Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne apne liye paigham nikah bhej diya, chunancha unhon ne Sayyeda Hafsa razi Allah anha ka nikah Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) se kar diya. Ittefaaqan ek martaba Sayyedna Abubakar razi Allah anhu se mulaqaat hui to wo farmane lage, mein ne Sayyedna Usman razi Allah anhu se apni beti ke nikah ki peshkash ki to unhon ne saaf jawab de diya lekin jab mein ne aapke samne ye peshkash ki to aap khamosh rahe jis ki bina par mujhe Sayyedna Usman razi Allah anhu se zyada aap par ghussa aya. Sayyedna Abubakar razi Allah anhu ne farmaya ke Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne Sayyeda Hafsa razi Allah anha ka zikar farmaya tha mein Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ka raaz faash nahi karna chahta tha, agar Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) unhen chhod dete to mein zaroor unse nikah kar leta.
حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ حُسَيْنٍ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ: لَمَّا تَأَيَّمَتْ حَفْصَةُ، وَكَانَتْ تَحْتَ خُنَيْسِ بْنِ حُذَافَةَ، لَقِيَ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُ عُثْمَانَ، فَعَرَضَهَا عَلَيْهِ، فَقَالَ عُثْمَانُ: مَا لِي فِي النِّسَاءِ حَاجَةٌ، وَسَأَنْظُرُ، فَلَقِيَ أَبَا بَكْرٍ، فَعَرَضَهَا عَلَيْهِ فَسَكَتَ، فَوَجَدَ عُمَرُ فِي نَفْسِهِ عَلَى أَبِي بَكْرٍ، فَإِذَا" رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ خَطَبَهَا"، فَلَقِيَ عُمَرُ أَبَا بَكْرٍ، فَقَالَ: إِنِّي كُنْتُ عَرَضْتُهَا عَلَى عُثْمَانَ، فَرَدَّنِي، وَإِنِّي عَرَضْتُهَا عَلَيْكَ، فَسَكَتَّ عَنِّي، فَلَأَنَا عَلَيْكَ كُنْتُ أَشَدَّ غَضَبًا مِنِّي عَلَى عُثْمَانَ وَقَدْ رَدَّنِي، فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: إِنَّهُ قَدْ كَانَ ذَكَرَ مِنْ أَمْرِهَا، وَكَانَ سِرًّا، فَكَرِهْتُ أَنْ أُفْشِيَ السِّرَّ".
