Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 4848
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said regarding the night prayer: “Offer your prayer in sets of two rak'ahs, and when you fear that dawn is approaching, then offer one rak'ah as Witr with those two.”

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ نبی کریم ﷺ نے رات کی نماز کے متعلق فرمایا: ”تم دو دو رکعت کر کے نماز پڑھا کرو اور جب ”صبح“ ہو جانے کا اندیشہ ہو تو ان دو کے ساتھ بطور وتر کے ایک رکعت اور ملا لو۔“
Sayyidna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne raat ki namaz ke mutalliq farmaya: "Tum do do rakat kar ke namaz parha karo aur jab "subah" ho jaane ka andesha ho to in do ke sath ba-taur witr ke ek rakat aur mila lo."
حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ التَّيْمِيُّ ، عَنْ طَاوُسٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ:" صَلَاةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى، فَإِذَا خِفْتَ الصُّبْحَ، فَأَوْتِرْ بِوَاحِدَةٍ".
