Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 4965
Nafi', the freed slave of Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), said: "Once, Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was walking on a road when he heard the sound of a shepherd singing and playing a musical instrument. He put his fingers in his ears and left the road. He kept asking me after short intervals, 'Nafi'! Can you still hear (the sound)?' I would reply in the affirmative. He kept walking until I said, 'No'. He then removed his hands from his ears, urged his mount to return to the road, and said, 'I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) do the same upon hearing the singing and musical instrument of a shepherd.'"

نافع رحمہ اللہ جو سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما کے آزاد کردہ غلام ہیں کہتے ہیں کہ ایک مرتبہ سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما راستے میں چلے جا رہے تھے کہ ان کے کانوں میں کانوں میں کسی چرواہے کے گانے اور ساز کی آواز آئی، انہوں نے اپنے کانوں میں اپنی انگلیاں ٹھونس لیں اور وہ راستہ ہی چھوڑ دیا اور تھوڑے تھوڑے وقفے کے بعد مجھ سے پوچھتے رہے کہ نافع! کیا اب بھی آواز آ رہی ہے میں اگر ”ہاں“ میں جواب دیتا تو وہ چلتے رہتے یہاں تک کہ جب میں نے ”نہیں“ کہہ دیا، تو انہوں نے اپنے ہاتھ کانوں سے ہٹا لئے اور اپنی سواری کو پھر راستے پر ڈال دیا اور کہنے لگے کہ میں نے نبی ﷺ کو ایک چرواہے کے گانے اور ساز کی آواز سنتے ہوئے اسی طرح کرتے ہوئے دیکھا تھا۔
Nafi rahmatullah alaih jo Sayyiduna Ibn Umar razi Allah anhuma ke azad kardah ghulam hain kahte hain ke ek martaba Sayyiduna Ibn Umar razi Allah anhuma raste mein chale ja rahe the ke unke kano mein kano mein kisi charwahe ke gane aur saz ki aawaz aayi, unhon ne apne kano mein apni ungliyan thons li aur wo rasta hi chhor diya aur thore thore waqfe ke baad mujhse puchte rahe ke Nafi! kya ab bhi aawaz aa rahi hai main agar "haan" mein jawab deta to wo chalte rehte yahan tak ke jab maine "nahi" kah diya, to unhon ne apne hath kano se hata liye aur apni sawari ko phir raste par daal diya aur kahne lage ke maine Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko ek charwahe ke gane aur saz ki aawaz sunte hue isi tarah karte hue dekha tha.
حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ، وَمَخْلَدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدٌ ، الْمَعْنَى، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ مُوسَى ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ مَوْلَى ابْنِ عُمَرَ،" سَمِعَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ صَوْتَ زَمَّارَةِ رَاعٍ فَوَضَعَ إِصْبَعَيْهِ فِي أُذُنَيْهِ، وَعَدَلَ رَاحِلَتَهُ عَنِ الطَّرِيقِ، وَهُوَ يَقُولُ: يَا نَافِعُ، أَتَسْمَعُ؟ فَأَقُولُ: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: فَيَمْضِي، حَتَّى قُلْتُ: لاَ، قَالَ: فَوَضَعَ يَدَيْهِ، وَأَعَادَ الرَّاحِلَةَ إِلَى الطَّرِيقِ، وَقَالَ: رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَسَمِعَ صَوْتَ زَمَّارَةِ رَاعٍ فَصَنَعَ مِثْلَ هَذَا".
